He married Agnes Cunningham in Edinburgh, 14 July 1842. She was the daughter of David Cunningham.

James Wark and Agnes Cunningham had the following child:

2 i. Hannah Wark was born BET 1844 AND 1852. Hannah died 18 November 1903 in 20 India Place Edinburgh @ 00.50pm Aged 51. She married John Fiddler in Lauder House Grange Age, 12 September 1865. John was born 17 December 1833. He was the son of Robert Fiddler and Mary Dutton. John died 26 December 1918 in New Royal Infirmary Edinburgh Aged 85.
