Scottish Ministers from the Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae.

Numerous generations from every corner of the globe have Scottish blood in their veins many of them from ministers of Scottish ancestry, contained in this Genealogical web site there are over eight hundred pages of ministers and their families, I hope while you are browsing through the “Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae” you come across one or two Scottish ancestors of your own. All of my direct Scottish ancestors came from East Lothian and quite a few of them were ministers, at the beginning of my investigation into my family tree I never thought where it might take me nor did I think it would consume much of my time, twenty incredible years have past and I am still tracing my Scottish ancestors it is hard to believe that so much time has gone by. I was surprised to discover that these ministers not only educated the poor but a few of them taught the children of affluent and aristocratic Scottish families, some of my family from past times who became ministers did so in the belief and hope that they would get away from poverty, regrettably many of these ministers never achieve their dreams. A number of Ministers who were ordained in Scotland were appointed by their own family members who were also Scottish ministers so as to keep the clergy in the family; I have read volumes I and II of the Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae many times and still find them captivating, countless ministers of the different Scottish parishes married their predecessors daughters of the parish they were ordained to.
A few of these ministers married more than once; there are those who married into wealthy families, reading between the lines I would say a few of these ministers married not for the love of a woman but for the love of money.

I hope you enjoy these books of Scottish ministers as much as do, just click on the links below to start searching through the many families of Scottish descent that are listed here
