by George, Earl of Dalhousie, and ord. 3rd May 1833; Synod clerk 3rd May
1836. Joined the Free Church; min. of the Free Church at Bonnyrigg
1843; principal clerk of the Free General Assembly; died 21st Dec. 1854. He
marr. 7th June 1836, his cousin, Ann Hay (died 28th April 1862), daugh. of
Young Trotter of Cruicksfield, and had
issue—Alexander Young, W.S., born 5th April 1837; Thomas, died in
infancy; Jane Cranstoun, born l7th Jan. 1840, died 2nd Oct. 1841.
