1822. GEORGE GRAY, son of Mr John G., architect, Kelso, born 4th Jan. 1798, studied at the Univ. of Edinburgh, licen. by the Presb. of Kelso 11th May 1819, pres. by George IV. in May, and ord. 19th Sept. 1822; trans. to Maybole 20th Aug. 1828.-[Tombst., Presb. Reg.]

 

1829. JOSEPH YAIR, A.M., son of Mr David Y., writer, educated at the grammar school Glasgow, where he obtained a prize in 1811, was licen. by that Presb. 25th June 1824, pres. by George IV. in Jan. and ord. 7th May 1829. 1601. THOMAS ABERNETHY, A.M., trans. from Durrisdeer; he proposed attending the Assembly at Aberdeen 2d July 1605, but owing to a mistake in the date arrived two days after, when he and a few others homologated the previous meeting; for this he was cited before the Privy Council 3d Oct., and would have been sent to confinement in Inverness had he not, on hearing the proposed sentence, desired again to be heard, and submitted himself, on which he was allowed to return to his charge; pres. to the Vicarage of Plenderleath by James VI. 24th May 1606, but the min. of Oxnam desired, 27th June 1610, that he should demit it in his favour, seeing it was associated with the kirk of Oxnam. 1612. ADAM SCOTT, A.M., trans. from Minto, pres. by Walter Scott of Buccleuch 27th Aug; continued 7th Dec. 1623.-[Presb., and Edin. Reg. (Bapt.), Reg. Assig.]

 

1625. ROBERT CUNINGHAME., had his degree from the Univ. of Glasgow in 1608, having brought testimonials from the Principal and Regents of Edinburgh college, was adm. to the Exercise (licen.) by the Presb. of Haddington, 8th Sept. 1617, adm. 20th April 1625; he was a member of the Assembly 1638, and of the Commission 1647; died after 8th Oct. 1656. He marr. Margaret Shaw, and had Patrick, Thomas, James, Alexander, Francis, Catherine, and Anna -- [Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Presb., Sess., and Haddington Presb. Reg., New St Acc. iii. 1657. JOHN SCOT, A.M., in the family of Sir Gilbert Elliot, of Stobbs, graduated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 15th July 1650, called 8th Feb. and adm. 29th July 1657; deprived by the Acts of Parliament 11th June and of Privy Council 1st Oct. 1662. When a rising against the Government was contemplated by some Presbyterians in 1666, he intended to join them, but finding there was disorder and want of discipline among them, he refrained. About
