1829. ANDREW MILROY, studied at the Univ. of Edinburgh, and was licen. by that Presb. 26th Aug. 1824, pres. by John William Robert, Marquis of Lothian in April, and ord. 30th July 1829. On joining in the Free Secession he was declared no longer a min. of this Church 20th June 1843, and adm. to Edinburgh (Henderson or Tron) Free Church 11th April 1844. He marr. 3d Nov. 1829, Margaret, eldest surviving daugh. of James Bryce, Esq., Edinburgh. Publication-Account of the Parish (New St. Acc. iii.)-[Presb. Reg., &c.]
NISBET. Previous to the Reformation the church belonged to the Abbey of Jedburgh. It was supplied with Crailing by JOHN KER, reader in 1574, Mr HENRY LEVINGSTOUN from 1576 t0 1578, and ALEXANDER GARDIN, 1579 and 1580. The parish was united to Crailing by the Commissioners of Parliament 9th July 1606. On a petition of the parishioners to Parliament 28th June 1633 that the united church might be removed to Nisbet, it was remitted to the Lords Commissioners of Teinds "to determine thairin as they think fitt and expedient."
1593, JOHN JOHNSTOUN, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 1st Aug. 1590; in 1594 Wilton was also under his care, but was omitted in 1595 when Abbotrule and Bedrule were added in its stead, which arrangement remained till 1599; trans. to Langnewton in 1607. -[Reg. 1608. HECTOR RAE, A.M., had his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 29th July 1603, adm. 8th Sept. 1608 ; trans. to Hounam 15th Feb. 1609.-[Reg. Laur. Univ. Edin., Presb Reg.]
ECKFORD. The church, previous to the Reformation, belonged to the Abbey of Jedburgh. It was supplied by; JOHN CLERK, reader from 1572 to 1591.
1593. ANDREW CLAYHILLIS, trans. from Jedburgh, pres. to the Vicarage by James VI. previous to 30th April; he was a member of the Assembly 1596, and was trans. to Monifieth, his original charge, in 1599.-[Reg.
