1669. JAMES FLETCHER, A.M., already mentioned, indulged by the Privy Council 2d Sept.; he was fined by them 31st July 1673 for not observing, as they had commanded, the anniversary of the Restoration, and died at Ednam Hospital in 1690, aged about 60. He had ane silver masser, two silver dishes, and three silver spoons, estimat to xl ii., ane gold ring joined with two hands, and ane other gold ring, which belonged to his wyfe, ane gold braslet, and ane other gold ring, with the spark of ane diamond estimat to jc li., Inventar and debts, jm ixc lij. li. Besides other legacies, he left to the ministers and sessions of Dundee, for the poor of the town, the fifth part of Provost Parker's land, with jm merks, and his whole books to Mr William Brown and Mr Robert Stark, preachers of the gospel, and Mr John Craig, writer, Edinburgh, to be equally divided, except my great Inglis Bible, with half-a-dozen of practical pieces, to Thomas Auchinleck, which he shall choose. He marr. Margaret Bower, who survived him, and had a daugh., who marr. Tbomas Auchinleck, apothecary in Dunse, who got a certificate from the united Presb. of Chirnside and Dunse for the vacant stipend at Nenthorn 7th Aug. 1690.-[Wodrow's Hist., Chirnside Presb., Dundee Sess., and Test Reg. 1689. ROBERT CALDER, a native of Moray, entered student at the Univ. and King's College, Aberdeen, in 1674, deprived by the Privy Council, 3d Sept. 1689, for not reading the Proclamation of the Estates, not praying for their Majesties William and Mary, but for James VII. 1692. WILLIAM BROWN, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 19th July 1661 called in Dec. 1691, and ord. 12th May following; died 17th Nov. same year, in 49th age, and 1st min.-[Edin. Grad., Presb. Reg., Tombst.]

 

1696. JAMES KER, A.M., acquired his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 18th July 1692, licen. by the Presb. of Kelso 23d April 1695, ord. 30th April 1696; died 26th Jan. 1754,
