1650. robert colden, A.M., acquired his degree at the Univ. of St. Andrews in 1626. had been a min. in Ireland, but was driven off by the cruelty of Irish rebels, and obliged to flee with his wife and children, for whom a collection was intimated in the church of Dunfermline 12th March 1643; died after 29th March 1664. He marr. Helen Atcheson, and had a daugh. Helen; 2dly, Anna Daes, who survived him, and had a son Robert, bursar to the Presb. of Earlston 1665—1667.—[Act. Sect. Univ. St. And., Dunferml. Sess., Syn. 1665. george trotter, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 19th July 1661, licen. by George, Bishop of Edinburgh 30th July 1664, pres. by the curators of James Marquis of Douglas in April, and adm. 25th July 1665; trans, to Edrom in 1677.— [Edin. 1678. alexander nicolson, A.M., studied at St. Leonard's College, and got his degree from the Univ. of St. Andrews 25th July 1671, adm. 20th Aug. 1678; deserted his charge in 1689, which was declared vacant in 1690, because he would not read the Proclamation of the Estates, nor pray for their majesties William and Mary. He retired to Hutton, was settled in the curacy of Holy Island in 1701, and died 31st August 1711, in 65th age, and 34th min. He carried off the Session Register which was in the hands of a descendant, Mr. Nicolson, Loanend. He marr. 29th Oct. 1685, Alison Hume in the par. of Gordon, and had three daugh., Margaret, Elizabeth, and Janet.—[Act. Rect. Univ. St. And., Presb., Sess., and Gordon Sess. Reg., Tombst., MS. 1690. alexander golden, A.M., took his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 1675, became min. to the Presbyterian congregation at Enniscorthy, Ireland, called to this par.------, and adm. 7th Aug. 1690, was a member of the Assembly 16th Oct. following, as well as that of 1692, and was trans, to Dunse in 1693.—[Reg. 1696. ninian home, A.M., son of Abraham H. tenant of Bellshill, born 5th Dec. 1670, was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 3d July 1693; being destitute, he applied for harvest work to the Laird of Wedderburn, by whom he was assisted till he became schoolmaster of Fogo, licen. by the united Presb. 7th April 1696, called in May, and ord. 30th July following; trans, to Sprouston 3d Oct. 1704.—[MS. 1706. walter hart, A.M., brother of Mr James H., one of the min. of Edinburgh, was graduated at the Univ. there 13th July 1695, licen. by the Presb. of Linlithgow 4th Feb. 1702, called 20th Nov. 1705, ord. 22d Aug. after; died 4th June 1761, in 55th min. 1765. robert douglas, a native of Ayrshire, licen. by the Presb. of Ayr 23d Dec. 1741, and ord. by them 5th Aug. 1747, as chaplain to Lord Drumlanrig's Regt. in the service of the States General in Holland, adm. to this par. 19th Sept. 1765; died 11th April 1801, in his 85th year, and 55th min. He marr. C. M. Barker, a Dutch lady, who died 8th Feb. 1796, |
