1664, living in the par. of Kelso, passed trials before the Presb., and was recommended to the bishop 24th March 1668 for licence, pres. by Charles II. 5th Feb., ord. after 27th April, and adm. and inst. 27th May 1669; trans. to Morebattle in Jan. 1683.-[Rdin. 1683. WILLIAM SPEED, A.M., trans. from Botriphnie, pres, by Charles II. 10th, coll. and inst. 20th Feb.; deprived by the Privy Council 3rd Sept. 1689, for Dot reading the Proclamation of the Estates, Dot praying for their majesties William and Mary, and praying for James VII. He resided subsequently at Nether-Byres, in the par. of Ayton, where he died before 23rd April 1706. His inventar amounted to jm lxxxvj li. xiijs. iiijd. He marr. 1692. THOMAS TH0MSONE, A. M., son of T., gardener to Mr Edmonston of Ednam, descended from the family of Rousland, near Kinneil, studied and attained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh in Aug. 1686, licen. by the Presb. 17th June 1691, called in May, and ord. 12th July 1692; trans. to Southdean in Oct. 1700[Thomson's Charles and Allectum, Edin. Grad., Presb. Reg.]
1702. WILLIAM BAXTER, A.M., studied and graduated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 28th June 1697, licen. by the Presb. 9th April 1700, called 6th Nov. 1701, and ord. 12th Feb. following; trans. to Sprouston 17th July 1722.-[Edin. Grad., Presb. Reg.]
1723. THOMAS POLLOCK, A. M., studied and took his degree at the Univ. of Glasgow 7th July 1715, licen. by the Presb. of Paisley 1st May 1718, pres. by George II. in Feb., and ord. 20th June 1723; died 16th May 1 7 64, aged about 69, in 41st min. Alison Mason, his widow, died 29th July 1788. He had five sons and five daugh., Allan, Alison, James, Isobell, George, John, Thomas, Isobell, Elizabeth, and Jean.-Publication-A Sermon; to which is added a Discourse on the Happiness of God, Edin. 1734, 8vo.-[Mun. 1796. ROBERT ROBERTSON, licen. by the Presb. 6th Oct. 1772, ord. min. of the Presbyterian congregation Pottergate, Alnwick, pres. by George III. 30th July 1795, and adm. 15th March thereafter; died 27th Feb. 1819, in 77th age. He married and left issue.-[Presb. Reg., &c.]

JOSEPH THOMSON, son of Mr John T., town-clerk of Jedburgh, licen. by the presb. thereof 5th Oct. 1814, became preacher at Caerlanrig Chapel, pres. by George, Prince Regent, 21st March, and ord. 3rd Aug. 1819; trans. to Morebattle 7th and adm. 30th May 1844; died 16th Aug. 1865, in his 64th year and 37th min. He marr. 29th July 1823, Margaret Hunter daugh. of the Rev. Thomas S. Hardie, min. of Ashkirk; she died 7tb Aug. 1844, aged 43; 2dly, 15th Aug. 1848, Elizabeth F.
