NORTH CHURCH. Constituted by the General Assembly 29th May, and opened 26th Nov. 1837.
1837. HORATIUS BONAR, son of James B., solicitor of Excise, Edinburgh, nominated and appointed by the managers 9th Sept., and ord. 30th Nov. On joining in the Free Secession, and signing the deed of Demission, he was declared no longer a min. of this Church 19th June 1843. Had D.D. from the Univ. and King's College, Aberdeen, 9th April 1853, and was adm. to Chalmers's Fr. Ch. Grange, Edin., 7th June 1866. He marr. in 1843 Jane-Katherine, third daugh. of the Rev. Robert Lundie, and has Mary, Cornelia, Eliza, Horatius, Emily, and Henry-Robert.-Publications-Can we remain in the Church ? Lond. 12mo. MAXWELL. The church was dedicated to St Michael, and previous to the Reformation, belonged to the Abbey of Kelso.
