1689. JOHN HOME, deprived by the Act of Parliament 25th April 1690, restoring the Presbyterian ministers. He set up a meeting-house at Coldingham, and died at Whitfield 15th May 1717,-having been. proprietor of the estate of Broomhouse-and was buried at Edrom. -- [MS. 1689. DANIEL DOUGLAS, A.M., above mentioned, after sojourning some time in Holland, returned, and was restored by the Act of Parliament 25th April 1690; died 24th July 1705, in his 86th year, and 56th min. He is said to have been "a simple man as to the world, yet of more learning, ingenuity, and good nature than most." He marr. a sister of Mr. James Hutcheson, min. of Killallan and is said to have been indebted to him for his conversion.[MS. Acc. of Min. 1689, Presb., Dunse Presb., and Hutton Sess. Reg., Tombs., S. 1707. WILLIAM WILSONE, schoolmaster of Stitchell, licen. by the Presb. of Kelso 2d March 1701, called 13th March, and ord. 4th Sept. 1707; died 3d May 1731, in 69th age, and 24th min.-[Presb., and Dunse Presb. Reg.]
1732. GEORGE HUME, son of George H., indweller in Dunse, tutor in the family of Sir Robert Sinclair of Longformacus, Bart., licen. by the Presb. of Dunse 10th April 1728, pres. by Robert Johnstone, Esq., of Hilton in Oct. 1731, and ord. ,16th March alter; trans. to Whittingham 21st April 1736.-[Presb. (Name of the Parish unknown.) 1653. FRANcis CRAW, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of St Andrews 22d July 1647. He and three others, being Protestors, gave a testimonial 29th Sept. 1653, claiming to be the Presb. of Chirnside, which the Synod of Merse and Teviotdale declared to be no Presb.; the certificate was therefore declared insufficient by the Presb. of Dalkeith 8th Dec. following. On confessing himself guilty of fornication, he deserted his charge, and fled the country in Feb. 1658.-[Edin. Grad., Dalkeith Presb. Reg., Lamont's Diary.]
