1659. GEORGE HOME, formerly of Ayton, served from 1st Dec. 1659 to 31st Aug. 1660, and had an Act of Parliament 18th June 1661 for a year's stipend.-[Acts Paul. vii.]

 

1660. DAVID STIRLING, A.M., acquired his degree at the Univ. of Glasgow in 1653, was licen. by the Presb. of Dumbarton, appointed assist. to Mr Andrew Stevenson, min. of Dunbar, 5th July 1659, in respect of infirmities through age, and the greatness of his charge. His duties were to preache, catechize, and visite the sick. He was ord. after 11th July 1660, conformed to Episcopacy, was coll. 27th Oct. 1662; and trans. to Edinburgh (Greyfriars Ch., 2d charge) in 1664.-[Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Dunbar Sess. and Presb. 1665. PATRICK SHARPE, eldest son of Mr Patrick S., min. of Kilbride, studied at the Univ. of Glasgow, ord. and coll. 15th Sept. (probably deprived by refusing the Test in 1681.) He was alive in April 1692, and had sasine of the two merk land of Lymekilns in Sept. following.-[ Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Reg. Sess. Lanark (Nether-Ward), and Collat., Test. Reg. (Glasg.)]

 

1682. THOMAS THOMSON, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh in d 6 7 4, became schoolmaster of Airth, was inst. 13th April; deserted his charge in Aug. 1696, under suspicion of immorality. He went to England, and obtained a parochial cure. He marr. Agnes Methven, and had David, Agnes, William, Janet, and Margaret.-[Edin. Grad., Sess., Stirling Presb., and Test. Reg. (Laud.), MS. Acc. of Min. 1689.]

 

1699. ROBERT PARK, studied theology at the Univ. of Glasgow, called 15th Nov. 1698, and ord. 19th Sept. following; died 25th Dec. 1754, in 56th min. He marr. in Sept. 1729 Elizabeth, daugh. of Mr James Ramsay, min. of Kelso; she died 19th June 1780.-[Mun.. Univ. Glasg. iii., Presb., Sess., and Test. Reg. 1755. JOHN BUCHANAN, pres. by John Wilkie, Esq. of Foulden, in March, and ord. 18th Sept. He was suspended by the Presb. for a month, having come under an obligation to the patron of a highly culpable nature. He died 9th June 1785, in his 78th year, and 30th min. He marr. 16th Dec. 1758 Jean Bell, who died 19th Feb. 1823, and had a son, Richard, min. of the English Church, Amsterdam.-[Presb. Reg., Tombst., Sinclair's St. Acc. xi., &c.]

 

1786. DAVID YOUNG, A.M., ord. by the Presb. of Edinburgh 12th May 1784, as min. of the Presbyterian congregation at Glanton, Ares. to this par. by James Wilkie, Esq., of Foulden, in Nov. 1785, and adm. 23rd March after; died 6th July 1812, in 62nd age and 29th min. He marr. Jane Davidson, who died 6th Oct. 1836, and had Richard, Andrew, in the H.E.I.C.S., Christian, who marr. Mr Peter Macgregor, merchant, Edinburgh, and Mary, who marr. ALEXANDER CHRISTISON, son of Mr Alexander C., Professor of Humanity in the Univ. of Edinburgh, educated at the High School and Univ. there, licen. by the Presb. 8th Aug. 1820, pres. by the Trustees of James Wilkie, Esq., of Foulden in May, and ord. 20th Sept. 1821. He marr. 1st, 7th June 1825, Helen, youngest daugh. of the Rev. William Cameron, min.
