1773. JOHN MACKENZIE, son of Ninian M., Clayholes, Stranraer, studied theology under the Rev. Dr Traill in the Univ. of Glasgow, while residing at Logan, he was licen. by the Presb. 4th Sept. 1771, pres. by Capt. John Blair, of Dunskey in Aug. 1772, and ord. 18th March succeeding. Had D.D. from the Univ. of Glasgow in April 1800, and was appointed one of his Majesty's Chaplains in Ordinary for Scotland 4th Oct. 1803, and 9th Nov. 1830. He died the father of the Synod 21st Dec. 1836, in 93d age and 64th min. He marr. 1st Nov. 1799 and had several daughters.-Publications-The Love of Pleasure inconsistent with Reason, and with the peculiar spirit of Christianity, a sermon, Edin. 1772, 8vo; Sermons, Edin. 1800, 8vo; Ocean, Stella, and other Poems, 1816, fcp. 8vo; Sermon XIV. 1828. ARCHIBALD BLAIR CAMPBELL, son of the Rev. Dr C., Ancrum, licen. by the Presb. of Jedburgh 8th June 1825, pres. by Forbes Hunter Blair, Esq. of Dunskey 2d Nov. 1827, and ord. (assist. and suc. 3d April thereafter; trans. to Kilwinning 24th Aug. 1831.[Presb., and Syn. Reg.]
1832. ANDREW URQUHART, A.M., licen. by the Presb. of Irvine 12th Aug. 1828, pres. by Forbes Hunter Blair, Esq. of Dunskey 2d Nov. 1831, and ord. (assist. and suc.) 5th April after. On joining in the Free Secession and signing the deed of Demission, he was declared no longer a min. of this Church 18th June 1843. STONYKIRK. The Church was dedicated to St. Stephen. The parish was supplied by JOHN GIBSON, exhorter in 1567, who succeeded as in next line.

1605. GILBERT POWER, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Glasgow in 1602, adm. in 1605; he gave x li towards erecting the Library in the College of Glasgow about 1636, and was deposed after Oct. 1640 for nonconformity, but the sentence was found null by the Assembly in Aug. 1642, and he was ordered to be reponed. On the day appointed, however, a number of gentlewomen and others, " the ladies of Freuch, Logan, Killaster, with their daughters, the goodwyff of Boilskert, John Smart's wyff, Jeanet Cathcart, Isobel Purves, Jonnet Greig, Rob. M'Learno's wyff, Jeane M'Dowall of Garthland, James Gordanis sinter, and the widow of the Myes, and hir doughter," came to the church, and with clubs and staves made " a great deal of tumultuous sturre, both in the kick-yard and kirk; and in the latter by confused speaking, and striking on the lafts with sticks." Mr P. justly complained, and had the rioters tried at Ayr. He died 6th Oct. 1647, in his 71st year and 42d min. He marr. .Jean, daugh of Mr James Hammiltoun, min. of Dalry.-[Mun. Univ.
