Mr B. had sasine of the lands and barony of Braxfield, except the Maynes, 14th Feb. 1633, and gave sasine of Over and Nether Crocelaw to Jean Power, his future spouse 3d Feb. 1632, and to other parties of twa parts of the lands of Braxfield 8th Aug. 1633, and, with consent of his brother foresaid, of two acres of land in Delvis 6th June 1636, and of two acres of land callit Maikinscheill, and ane piece of Braxfield, etc., 14th Feb. 1639. 165-. JOHN M'BROOM, A.M., had his degree at the Univ. of Glasgow 1655; deprived by the Acts of Parliament 11th June, and of Privy Council 1st Oct. 1662. Not giving obedience, he was charged and commanded by the Privy Council 24th Feb. 1663 to remove before 24th March, which he obeyed, and went to the Co.-Down, where he obtained a congregation-[Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Wodrow's Hist., Reid's Ireland ii.]
1664. GEORGE FORBES, fourth son of John F. of Pitnacadel, adm. before 25th Oct.; trans. to Innerleithen in 1666.-[Lumsden's House of Forbes, Syn. Reg.]
1666. JOHN CALDWELL, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of Glasgow in 1657, and was pres. to Robertoun in 1664 by the Archbishop of Glasgow, but the Presb. of Lanark, in 1665, refused to settle him, be was adm. to this par. before 25th April 1666; and died at Edinburgh in June 1689, aged about 54. Debts were awin him amounting to vc xx li. Elizabeth Forrester, his mother-in-law, being executor-[Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Syn., and Test. Reg.]
16-. DAVID AIRTH, A.M., acquired his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 26th July 1657, became min. of the Presbyterian congregation at Ballinderry, or Glenary. He died before 5th June 1697, when his daugh. Joanna was served heir-[Edin. Grad., Reid's Ireland ii. iii., Inq. Ret. Fife 1396.]
1697. JOHN MONTEITH, A.M., a native of Glasgow, obtained his degree at the Univ. there bth Oct. 1683, and licen. by that Presb. 29th April 1696, ord. before 20thApril 1697; trans. to Kirkmaiden " for want of a livelihood " in 1699.-[Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Syn., and Kirkmaiden Sess. Reg.]
1704. ROBERT BOYD, called -, and ord. 26th Sept.; he was suspended, till next meeting, ah Aug. 1724 for not praying in express terms as enjoined, for King George. He died 29th Aug. 1725, in 46th age and 21st min.-[Presb. Reg., Tombst., Wodrow's Corresp. i., &c.]
1727. THOMAS ELDER, A.M., formerly of Whithorn, who in the interval had been min. of the Presbyterian congregation at Kilmore, pres. by John Blair of Dunskey, no less than three times in 1726, adm. 2d May 1727; trans to Leswalt 6th Jan. 1731.-[Presb. Reg., &c.]
1732. ALEXANDER HENDERSON, licen. by the Presb. of Wigton 7th Nov. 1723, became Chaplain at Leadhills in 1728, called to this par. 3d April, and ord. 30th Aug. 1732; died 1770, in 38th min. Anna Ferguson, his widow, died 21st Dec. 1791.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., Tombst &c.]
