1707. JOHN GODEFROY, a foreigner, called 1st April 1705. An Act of Parliament was passed for his naturalization, with others, 25th March 1707, and he was ord. 13th May thereafter; died between 24th Sept. and 21st Oct. 1718, in 12th min.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., Acts Parl. xi., &c.]
1721. JOHN MONTGOMERY, licen. at Belfast, called 27th Feb., and ord. 11th May. Having shown a great deal of indifference to his ministry, and not being edifying to the people, he gave in his demission, which was accepted 19th Nov. 1729.-[Presb. Reg., &c.]
1731. THOMAS ELDER, A.M., trans. from Portpatrick, called 16th Nov. 1730, and adm. 2d Feb. succeeding; died between 7th Feb. and 7th March 1733, aged about 56. He marr. 29th Sept. 1709 Grissel Stewart, who survived, and at her death left two orphans,-[Presb. Reg., &c.]
1734. ROBERT MENZIES, licen. by the Presb. 6th Oct. 1731, called 25th Sept. 1733, and ord. 4th April thereafter; died between 18th Feb. and 7th April 1736. He marr. 29th April 1734 Janet, daugh. of John Adair, of Genoch, who survived, and had a gift of vacant stipend from the Exchequer 16th Nov. 1738.-[Presb. Reg., &c.]
1737. THOMAS MUTTER, son of Mr John M., min. of Tranent, licen. by the Presb. of Haddington 18th April 1732, called 6th June, and ord. 27th Sept. 1737; trans. to Auchtermuchty 25th Aug. 1762.-[Presb., Stranraer Sess., and Syn. Reg., &c.]
1763. DAVID HENDERSON, licen. by the Presb. of Wigton, Ares. by George III. 26th Oct. 1762, and ord. 21st April following; trans. to Wigton 18th Sept. 1765.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., &c. 1766. JOHN ROSE, licen. by the Presb. of Wigton, pres. by Geo. III. 23d Dec. 1765, and ord. 25th Sept. thereafter ; died 25th May 1797, in 31st min. He marr. 1798. ANDREW MAC CUBBIN, a native of Kirkinner, licen. by the Presb. of Mull 16th Dec. 1791, pres. by Geo. III. in Oct. 1797, and ord. 26th April succeeding. He got a new church built in 1828, and died father of the Synod 4th Feb. 1852, in his 96th year and 54th min. GLENLUCE, NOW OLD LUCE. Previous to the Reformation the church belonged to the Abbey of Glenluce. The parish was supplied by JOHN SANDERSON, exhorter in 1567. The name was changed to OLD LUCE on the division of the parish in 1646.
