1816. THOMAS BLAIR, licen. by the Presb. of Glasgow 8th Dec. 1813, became assistant to the Rev. Charles Cunningham, Dailly, pres. by Sir Hew Dalrymple Hamilton of Bargeny and North Berwick, Bart., 1st July, and ord. 12th Sept. 1816; died 10th July 1849, aged 58, in 33d min. He marr. 4th Aug. 1818 Ann C. Macfadzen, who died 24th Aug. 1852, and had John, min. of Straiton, Andrew, James, Thomas, Henry, Elizabeth, and Catherine.-Publication-Account of the Parish (New St. Acc. v.)-[Presb., and Syn. INCH. The church informer times belonged to the Bishops of Galloway. The parish was supplied by CUTHBERT ADAIR, exhorter in 1567; THOMAS MAKALEXANDER, reader, from 1570 to 1580.
1601. JOHN WATSONE, A.M., removed from Saulseat; he was a member of the Assembly 1610, continued 30th May 1638, but died before lst July 1641. His widow, Janet Boyd, was in " old age and povertie," 8th Jan. 1644.-[Reg. Assig., and Old Dec. iii., Presb., and Test. Reg. 1638. JOHN DICK, A.M., had his degree from the Univ. of Edinburgh 27th July 1622, became schoolmaster at Stranraer, inst. (helper) at the Presb. seat 30th May 1638, pres. by the Presb. 29th Dec. 1641. He was commissioned by the Assembly 1644 to visit the province of Ulster for three months in the following year, and was called to Island-Magee, but the Assembly 2d Aug. 1648 refused his translation. 16-. HUGH WILSON, studied at the Univ. of Glasgow; deprived by the Acts of Parliament 11th June, and of Privy Council 1st Oct. 1662. He went to Ireland, and got a charge in the Co. Down. Lady Freugh had great respect for him, and in the suffering times did much for the support of him and his family, giving liberally to them every year during the persecution. He was very positive that he would survive the storm of persecution and be again min. of Inch.-[Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Wodrow's Hist., and Anal., Reid's Ireland ii.]
1663. JAMES HUTCHESON, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh in July 1654, pres. by , coll., and inst. after Whitsunday 1663; trans. to North Leith after 27th July 1671.-[Edin. Grad., Morrison's Dec. xvii., Syn. Reg., Symson's Galloway.]
167-. JAMES CAMERON, passed trials before the Presb. of Glasgow, and got a testimonial 24th Sept. 1673 for licence. In 1689 he prayed for King James and the young Prince, and read the Proclamation of the Estates, while the congregation were dismissing, and after the blessing had been pronounced.
