1684. ROBERT KEITH, passed trials before the Presb. of Glasgow, and was recommended 10th May 1682 for license; died before 13th Oct. 1687. He marr. in Dec. 1684 Catharine, daugh. of Mr William Gordon, min. of Kintore, and had two children, William and Jean, to whom Mr John Keith, min. of Stevenston, was served nearest agnate 3d April 1688.-Test. 1686. JOHN WHITE, trans. from Colmonell, adm. prior to Dec. 1686; outed by the rabble in 1689. Another account says :-" A pedlar beat him on the face with a musket, and thrust at him with a sword to the piercing of his clothes and skin." When "he accused the Presbyterians for beating his wife," they rejoined “that they never knew any to beat his wife except himself" -[MS. Acc. of Min. 1689, Rule's Sec. Vindication, Test. Reg. 1690. THOMAS KENNEDY, A.M., son of Mr Thos. K., min. of Newtown, in Ireland, obtained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 1677. He was a probationer in the Presb. of Down in March 1689, called in Aug. following, ord. 26th Feb. 1690. He got liberty of translation from the Presb. 23d March 1693, but remained; and died in May 1730, aged about 73, in 41st min. His only daugh. marr. Mr William Cupples, min. of Kirkoswald.-[Edin. 1731. HAMILTON KENNEDY, A.M., trans. from Dundonald, called 1st Feb., and adm. 19th Aug.; died 16th Jan. 1770, in 41st min. Margaret Ferguson, his widow, died 2d Oct. 17 89. -[Presb., and Syn. Reg., &c.]

 

1771. WILLIAM DONALDSON, in the par. of Girvan, licen. by the Presb. of Ayr l0th Sept. 1766, called 23d Aug. 1770, and ord. 2d May following; died 28th July 1814, in his 7 6th year, 44th min. He marr. as his second wife 5th Jan. 1778 Elizabeth, daugh. of William Allan, of Kilphine; she died at Edinburgh 20th April 1831, and had a son John D. of Aucharne, writer to the signet, and a daughter.-Publication-Account of the Parish (Sinclair's St. Acc. i.).-[Presb., and Syn. 1815. ROBERT MACNAIR, son of the Rev. James M., Slamannan, licen. by the Presb. of Glasgow 8th Dec. 1813, pres. by Sir Hew Dalrymple Hamilton, of North Berwick and Bargany, Bart., 15th Dec. 1814, and ord. 11th May succeeding. He got a new church built in 1819, and was trans. to Paisley Abbey par. 3d March 1824.-[Presb., and ,Syn. Reg., New St. Acc. v.]

 

1824. THOMAS HILL, youngest son of Principal H., of St. Andrews, born 11th Aug. 1798, studied at the Univ. of St. Andrews, was licen. by the Presb. there 14th Sept. 1820, pres. by Sir Hew Dalrymple Hamilton, of North Berwick and Bargany, Bart., in May, and ord. 9th Sept. 1824; trans. to Logie and Pert, 25th Aug. 1825.-[Presb., and Syn. 1826. THOMAS BURNS, son of Mr Gilbert B., factor at Lennoxlove, and nephew of the Poet, studied at the Univ. of Edinburgh, licen. by the Presb. of Haddington 3d Dec. 1822, pres. by Sir Hew Dalrymple Hamilton, of North Berwick and Bargany, Bart., 31st Jan., and
