1822. JOHN TURNBULL son of John T., farmer, Eyemouth, studied at the Univ. of Edinburgh, licen. by the Presb. 13th June 1820, pres, by George IV. 26th March, and ord. (assist. and suc.) 9th May 1822. 1574. GEORGE RAMSAY, trans. from Carrington; Chernsyid, Boncle, and Preston were then also in the charge, with lxxxviij li. iiijs. iiijd., and the kirk-lands for stipend. In the Gen. 1576. THOMAS STORIE; trans. to Chirnside. He returned about 1585, continued in 1594, having also Hutton in charge, and Fishwick additional in 1595; trans. to Hutton in that or the following year.-[Reg. Assig., Calderwood's Hist.]
1596. TOBIAS RAMSAY, was a member of Assembly 10th Nov. 1602, and in opposition to the Court, was appointed Moderator of the Synod in Oct. 1607, when they discharged those that had been nominated constant Moderators of the several Presbyteries from occupying their places. For defending the lawfulness of this proceeding before the Privy Council, he was imprisoned in Blackness; continued in 1608.-[Reg. Assig., Calderwood's Hist., Booke of the Kirk, Mebvill's Autob.]
1614. OLIVER COLT, A.M., trans. from Holyroodhouse, 2d charge, pres. to the Vicarage of Lammerton by James VI. 1 Oth Dec. 1616; died “in peace, alter many labours." He marr. 1630. THOMAS RAMSAY, an expectant in the Synod of St Andrews 4th Sept. 1611, was a member of the Assemblies 1638, 1639, and 1645; and died in Sept. 1650. His utencils were estimat at xxvj li xiijs. iiijd. Frie geir, d.d., ijm vc xcix li. xvs. iiijd. He marr.
