1689. SAMUEL KELSO, a native of Ireland, and min. of the Presbyterian congregation at Killisandra; he was a member of the Assemblies 1690, and 1692. He had also charge of Kirkmaiden from 1693; returned to Ireland, got charge of a congregation at Donnochclonny, in Co. 1697. ALEXANDER DUNLOP, trans. from Buittle, called in 1696, adm. 13th April 1697; demitted 2d July, which was accepted 25th Nov. 1702. He died 8th April 1708. Katharine Dunbar, his widow, died in 1728. A daugh., Christian, marr. James M'Naughton, merchant, Edinburgh, and under keeper of the Advocates bar.-[Presb., Syn., Test., and _Edin. Reg. 1704. THOMAS ELDER, A.M., nephew of Mr James E., min. of Keir, born in Ireland of Scottish parents, had his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 28th June 1697, had been min. of a congregation in Ireland, from which he had been loosed on account of grievances, called 4th July and adm. 5th Sept. 1704; deposed by (a majority of eight) in the Gen. Assembly 18th May 1711, for ante-nuptial fornication, his wife having given birth to a living infant four months and twenty-six days after marriage, which appeared full-grown and lived for some months. The sentence was taken off by the Gen. Assembly 13th May 1715 (partly on the strong testimoniale of the good conduct and usefulness of Mr E. previous to he marriage, and partly upon the opinions of Dr Archibald Pitcairn, Dr Charles Preston, and Mr Adam Drummond, three of the most eminent medical practitioners in Edinburgh). Mr Elder after this went to Ireland, was adm. min. to the Presbyterian congregation at Kilmore, Co. Down, and afterwards to Portpatrick.-[Edin. Grad., Presb. Reg., Reg. Gen. 1712. JOHN M'CAUL, son of John M'C., farmer at Corsbie, in the par. of Penningham, studied theology at the Univ. of Glasgow, became chaplain to James, Earl of Galloway, licen. by the Presb. l0th Feb. 1708, called 9th Dec. 1711, ord. 25th March following; died let April 1741, in 56th age and 30th min., leaving two sons, Dr John, one of the min. of Glasgow, and Alexander, merchant there.-[Mun.
