He marr. Margaret Law, and had Margaret, who marr. Mr. Robert Lawson, min. of Libberton, Lanarksh., David, Archibald, appointed their Bursar by the Presb. of Dunbar 4th April 1682, Thomas, and Ann.-[Min.-Book Reg. Priv. Seal v., MAS'. 1716. JAMES ALLAN, trans. from Simprim, pres. by the Presb. jure devoluto 31st Jan., and adm. 15th March. He was a member of Assembly, and spoke in defence of Professor Simson 9th May 1729; died 3d Jan. 1737, in his 59th year, and 30th min., leaving a son who succeeded to the benefice.-[Presb. 1737. JAMES ALLAN, A.M., son of the preceding, acquired his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 12th May 1732, pres. by George II. in April, and ord. 18th Aug. 1737; died unmarried 7th May 1767, in 55th age, and 30th min.-Publication-Moderation explained and recommended, a sermon, Edinburgh, 1749, 8vo.-[Edin. GEORGE TODD, second son of Mr. John T., min. of Ladykirk, licen. by the Presb. 30th Aug. 1774, ord. l0th Aug. 1775, as min. at Kirkly, or Thornyford, from which he was promoted to Tweedmouth, pres. by George III. 30th April, and adm. 15th Sept. 1785; trans. to Ladykirk 27th Aug. 1801.-[Presb. Had D.D. from the Univ. of Edinburgh 16th Sept. 1809, and died 9th Oct. 1825, in 29th min., distinguished as an accomplished Greek
