1810. ADAM ROBERTSON, M.D., licen. by the Presb. of Linlithgow 29th Aug. 1804, he also studied medicine and took his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 24th June 1809, pres. by John Vans Agnew, Esq. of Barnbarrow 25th Aug., and ord. (assist. and suc.) 1st Nov. 1810; died 1st Jan. 1812 (being the day fixed for his marriage), in 2d min.-Publication-Dissertatio Medica inauguralis De Scrofula, Edin. 1809, 8vo.-[Presb. Reg., &c.]

 

1816. JAMES REID, licen. by the Presb. of Linlithgow 16th Aug. 1810, pres. by John Vans Agnew, Esq. of Barnbarrow in July 1815, and ord. 4th April following, he got a new church built in 18`38. He marr. Mary, eldest daugh of the Rev. E. W. Davidson of Sorbie, and has five sons, James, Major in Queen's Indian Service, John, banker, Calcutta; William and George Captains of Indian Ships, and Patrick, and four daugh., Elizabeth, marr. Rev. John Reid, Monikie, Margaret-Rev. James Roddick, Australia, Jane-Mr Boyd, and Susan.-Publication -Account of the Parish (New St. Acc. iv.).-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., New St. Acc. iv., &c.]

 

LONGCASTER OR LONGCASTLE.

The parish was supplied by LEWIS FRASER, reader, in 1567, and WILLIAM VANSE from 1568 to 1574: and was united to hirkinner after 1630.

 

1574. NICOL DUNGALSON, pres. by James VI. 3d Aug., at which time Kirkinner, Kirkeowane, Mochrum, and Kirkmadryne were also in the charge, with a stipend of iiijxx li, and the kirk-lands. He died before 1st March 1577.-[Reg. Pres., and Assig., Wodrow Miscell., Test. Reg.]

 

1577. JOHN ZOUNG, Ares. by James VI. 1st March; he continued in 1589, and was trans. to Mochrum.-[Reg. Pres., and Assig., Booke of the Kirk, Excheq. Buik, Test. Reg.]

 

KIRKMABRECK.

Previous to the Reformation the church belonged to the Abbey of Dundrennan. The parish was supplied by JOHN MOFFETT, exhorter from 1567, reader to 1579; and united to Anworth between 1612 and 1619; they were disjoined again 19th Feb. and 21st March 1636, and this was ratified by Parliament 17th Nov. 1641. The church was removed to Ferrytown, now Creetown, by Act of Parliament 8th March 1645. The parish was originally in the Presb. of Kirkcudbright, but was disjoined and annexed to that of Wigton by the Gen. Assembly 24th Jan. 1699.

 

1585. JOHN MOFFET, removed from Monigaff, he had been pres. to the Vicarage Pensionary of Kirkdale by James VI. 8th May 1583, which in 1585 was also under his care. He continued in 1589, and removed to Kirkdale.-[Reg. Pres., and Assig., New .St. Acc. iv.]

1601. JOHN KALLENDER A.M., trans.  from Dundrennan, pres. to the Vicarage by James VI jure devoluto 19th Jan. 1603; trans. to Kirkmaiden in the Rynnis-[Reg. Assig., and Pres., New St. Acc. iv.]
