1689. ALEXANDER GORDON, A.M., studied and acquired his degree at the Univ. of Glasgow 27th July 1676, formerly min. of a Presbyterian congregation at Rathfryland, Ireland.; trans. to Sorbie same year.-[Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Syn., and Presb. Reg., Reid's Ireland ii.]

 

1693. PATRICK DUNLOP, a preacher from Ireland, who came over at the Revolution, ord. 27th May; continued 6th July 1698. He returned to Ireland, and was settled in the Presbyterian congregation at Drumlick, par. of Drumneirs, Co. Armagh, where he died in July 1710, in 18th min.-(Syn., Presb., and Test. 1701. HUGH DUNLOP, licen. by the Presb. of Peebles 4th Dec. 1700, called 1st June, and ord. 10th Sept. 1701; died at Edinburgh 15th Sept. 1705, in 5th min.-[Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Presb., and Edin. Reg. (Bur.) &c

 

1706. JAMES MURDOCH, licen. by the Presb. of Kirkcudbright 18th Sept. 1700, called 4th Aug., and ord. 19th Sept. 1706; died 8th Feb. 1718, in 51st age and 12th min.-[Presb. Reg., Tombst., &c.]

 

1719. JAMES M'CLELLAN, A.M., acquired his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 27th April 1705, licen. by the Presb. of Kirkcudbright 16th Nov. 1714, called 26th Jan., and ord. 1st Sept. 1719; died 26th Aug. 1743, aged about 59, in 24th min. His son David became min. of Beith.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg.]

 

1744. ROBERT HUNTER, chaplain in the family of the laird of Logan, licen. by the Presb. of Stranraer 7th April 1742, called 20th March, and ord. 20th Sept.1744; died 15th July 1782, in his 74th year and 38th min. He marr. Helen, fourth daugh. of Mr Patrick Bruce, min. at Killeleagh in Ireland, she died 5th Feb. 1789.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., Tombst., Acts of Ass. 1744, Playfair's Baronet. ii., &c.]

 

1783. JOHN DICKSON, ord. 19th Aug.; died 12th March 1799, in 52d age, and 16th min. He marr. 2d Aug. 1790 Margaret Bruce, who died 17th Sept. 1825, and had a daugh. Grace, who marr. his successor.-Publication-Account of the Parish (Sinclair's St. Acc. xx.)[Presb., and Syn. Reg., Tombst. &c.]

 

1799. ANTHONY STEWART, M.D., trans. from New Luce, pres. by Robert Agnew, Esq. of Sheuchan 28th June, and adm. 12th Dec.; died 6th April 1847, in 56th min. He marr. 30th Aug. 1802 Grace, daugh. of the preceding min., she died at Cheltenham 24th Jan. 1862, and had two daughters.-Publication-Account of New Luce (Sinclair's St. Acc. xiii.)-Presb., and Syn. Reg., &c.]

 

KIRKINNER.

The church was dedicated to St. Kenneir, and previous to the Reformation belonged to the Chapel Royal of Stirling. Theparish was supplied by JAMES FALCONER, reader, from Beltyn, 1573; MICIIAEL DUNGALSON, before 1574; THOMAS WRICHT, from 1574 to 1576; and JAMES FALCONER from 1578 to 1588.
