1629. DAVID LEITCHE, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of 8t Andrews in 1605; he sustained great loss 4th July 1629 by "a sudden and fearful fire quhilk raised on the four corners of his house at midnight whereby all that was therein was hailly wasted and burnt to ashes (be ane Jesuit, as was reported.") After petitioning the Secret Council, they with the Archbishop of St Andrews recommended him for relief, which was responded to by the Kirk Session of Kirkcaldy giving him x li and the Town other x li. 1655. JOHN DUNCAN, A.M., son of Mr John D., min. of Culross, took his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 1648; he was appointed by the Presb. in Jan. 1662 to wait on the Privy Council, and endeavour to get the bar removed which prevented their petitioning against restrictions anent their meeting, but was deprived by the Acts of Parliament 11th June, and of Privy Council 1st Oct. same year. At the Privy Council 24th Feb. 1663 he was accused of " still labouring to keep the hearts of the people from the present government in Church and State ;" he died same year, aged about 35, having been one of Livingston's " eminent acquaintance."
