1714. JAME ROWAN, chaplain to the laird of Greenlaw, licen. by the Presb. 21st Aug. 1711, called 7th Jan. and ord. 24th June 1714; died 26th Aug. 1742, in 59th age, and 29th min. He left a widow, a son James, and six other children.-[Presb.; Syn., and Test. Reg. (Dumf.), Tombst., &c.]

 

1744. JOHN CROCKAT, licen. by the Presb. of Dumfries 2d Jan. 1739, called 18th Aug. 1743, ord. 25th Sept. 1744; died 20th July 1760, in 46th age, and 16th min. He marr. 8th Sept. 1748 Mary daugh. of Mr William Tod, min. of Buittle, and had a son William, and a daugh. who marc. Mr William Rose, min. of Kirkcolm.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., Tombst., &c.]

 

1761. WILLIAM DONALD90N, son of Mr Robert D., min of Balmaclellan, licen. by the Presb. 1st May 1751, ord. 23d April 1761; died 2d Oct. 1799, in his 72d year, and 39th min. He marr. 22d Feb. 1762 Mary Christian, who died 12th Dec. 1771, and had two sons and four daughters, one of whom marr. M'Ghie, Esq., of Castlehill, and another William Berry, Esq.-Publication-Account of the Parish (Sinclair's St. Acc. i.)-[Presb., and Syn. Reg. Tombst., &c.]

 

1800. ARCHIBALD GLEN, licen. by the Presb. of Glasgow 22d March 1797, pres. by William Glendonwyne, of Glendonwyne and Parton 26th March, and ord. 18th Sept. 1800; died 15th March 1808, in 34th age, and 8th min. He marr. 2d Dec. 1800 Catherine, only daugh. of Mr James Parlane, surgeon, Glasgow; she died 13th July 1825, and had two sons, one of them Archibald, a merchant in Glasgow.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., Tombst., &c.]

 

1809. JAMES RAE, trans. from Kirkgunzeon, pres. by William Scot, Esq., of Wimpsor 29th Aug. 1808, and adm. 30th May thereafter; died 26th May 1829, in 57th age, and 27th min. He marr. 23d June 1806, Elizabeth eldest daugh. of the Rev. John Roberteon, min. of Kirkconnel, she died 2d Sept. 1854, and had two sons and five daughters.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., &c.]

 

1830. WILLIAM GLENDONWYNE CROSBIE, A.M., son of Robert Crosbie, Esq. of Merkland, took his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 12th April 1828, licen. by the Presb. 6th Aug. following, pres. by John Herries Maxwell, Esq. of Munches, in Nov. 1829, and ord. 15th April succeeding; got a new church built in 1834, and died 18th March 1845, in his 39th year and 15th min. He marr. 30th Jan. 1833 Jane third daugh. of the preceding incumbent, and had two sons and a daughter.-Publication-Account of the Parish (New St. Acc. iv.)- [Presb., and Syn. Reg., &c.]

 

DUNDRENNAN, Now RERRICK.

The church was removed from Dundrennan about the close of the seventeenth century, but has been brought back, and a new church built near the Abbey in 1866. Previous to the Reformation it belonged to the Abbey of Dundrennan. The parish was supplied by WILLIAM CUTLAIR, reader in 1574, ALEXANDER ZOUNG, from 1576 to 1579, and JAMES HUITTON from 1580 to 1585.

 

1594. JOHN KALLENDER, A.M., a native of Falkirk, was laureated at the Univ. of Glasgow
