1607. PETER PRYMROIS, A.M., son of Mr Peter P., min. of Mauchlin, and recommended to Mr Robert Boyd, while Professor at Montauban, had his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 29th July 1600. 1620. JAMES IRVING; he contributed v merks towards building the library of the Univ. of Glasgow in 1636, was a member of the Commissions of Assembly 1646, 1649, and continued 24th April 1655.-[Reg. 16-. THOMAS THOMSON, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of Glasgow in 1654; deprived by the Acts of Parliament 11th June and of Privy Council 1st Oct. 1662. He was accused before the Privy Council 24th Feb. following of “still labouring to keep the hearts of the people from the present government in Church and State," and he is stated to have lectured in the house of Gordoun of Earlstoun on a Sabbath previous to 1st March 1664.-[Mun. 1664. JAMES THOMSON, had sasine of an annual rent furth of the lands of Glencappock in March 1664 (probably an error in the christian name for Thomas.-[New Gen. Reg. Sasines, viii.]
1664. ALEXANDER IRVINE, A.M., graduated at the Univ. of Edinburgh in May 1653, adm. before 25th Oct. 1664. He is stated to have interested himself in getting the sentence executed against one of his heritors, Neilson of Corsock, in Dec. 1666. When breathing out persecution against the parishioners one morning, be took a sudden pain in his head, and died after a few hours illness, his tongue hanging out of his mouth,-posterior to 27th April 1671. -[Edin. 1675. COLIN DALGLIESH, A.M., got his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 1670 ; continued and was trans. to Old Luce in 1684.-[Edin. Grad., Wodrow's Hist., Forres Presb. Reg., List of Disorderly, War Committee of Kirkcudbright.]
168-. JOHN CUNNINGHAM, of Enterkin, A.M., studied and acquired his degree at the Univ. of Glasgow in 1665, became curate to James, Bishop of the Diocese, though he had been accused at the Privy Council 27th April 1676 of haunting and keeping conventicles at Bladenoch in Glenluce; ousted by the people in 1689, and deprived by the Act of Parliament 25th April 1690, restoring the Presbyterian ministers. 1690. THOMAS THOMSON, A.M., above mentioned, was restored by the Act of Parliament 25th April; (but does not appear to have returned to the charge-[MS. Acc. of Min. 1689.]

SAMUEL SPALDING, A.M., a native of Ireland, though of Scottish parents, had his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 10th March 1688, ord. 24th Nov. 1692; died 6tb Dec. 1712, in 43d age, and 21st min. He marr. the heiress of Shirmers. Their descendants still possess the estate of Holm, par. of Balmaclellan, and are connected with the Ex-Lord Chan |
