1637. THOMAS M'GILL, A.M., graduated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 25th July 1629, pres. by , and inst. in 1637. Complaints having been lodged against him, he was probably deprived (after 16th April) 1639, he having refused to accept the terms of demission which had been offered. He went to Ireland, and died in 1654, aged about 45. He marr. Janet Menteith, and had two sons and a daugh., David, James, and Isabel, who subsequently marr. 1639. HEW HENRYSONE, A.M. trans. from Carsphairn; he was appointed by the Assembly 19th Aug. 1643 to supply in the north of Ireland for three months. In 1645 he was appointed to attend Colonel David Stuart's regiment; and was trans. to Dumfries in 1648.[Acts of Ass., and Parl. v., Dumfries Presb. Reg., Reid's Ireland iii. &c.]
1659. JOHN M'MICHINE, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 15th April 1645. He was bold enough with others of his brethren to hold meetings of the presbytery after they had been prohibited, for which he and four others were carried to Edinburgh in June 1662, but were allowed to return to their families; he was deprived by the Acts of Parliament 11th, and of Privy Council 1st Oct. succeeding. He was accused 24th Feb. thereafter of "still labouring to keep the hearts of the people from the present government in Church and State;" on appearing 24th March, however, the case was delayed.-[Reg. 1663. GEORGE HENRY, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Glasgow in 1656; pres. by James, Bishop of Galloway jure devoluto in 1663; trans. to Stonykirk in 1665.-[Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Syn., and Edin. Counc. Reg. xxiii., Wodrow's Hist.]
1669. JOHN M'MICHINE, A.M., above mentioned, indulged by the Privy Council 27th July; but was fined by them 10th July following for not keeping the anniversary of his Majesty's restoration. He confessed having " contravened and broken several of the instructions" given to indulged ministers 9th Oct., and was indicted before the Lords of Justiciary 22d Dec. 1684, for reset of rebels, but 17th of following month granted his bond " to live peaceably and not preach."- [Wodrow’s Hist., Orig. 168-. FULTON (probably Robert, who studied and took his degree at the Univ. of Edin. in 1677, deserted the charge in 1689, and was deprived by the Act of Parliament 24th April 1690 restoring the former Presbyterian ministers-[MS. Acc. of Min. 1689.]
1690. JOHN M'MICHINE, A.M., was restored by the foresaid Act of Parliament (though he does not appear to have again taken charge. His eldest daugh. Marie marr.
