1672. JAMES LAWREY, formerly of Stonykirk, was indulged by the Privy Council 3d Sept.; he was preaching at Ayr in 1682.-[Wodrow's Hist., &c.]

 

1672. THOMAS WARNER, AM., above-mentioned, indulged by the Privy Council 3d Sept.; he was accused before the Privy Council 6th Jan. 1679 of breaking his confinement, officiating at conventicles, and conversing with Mr John Welsh, late of Irongray, and other declared traitors and intercommuned persons, for which the parishioners were discharged 16th Feb. following " to pay him any stipend till they receive further orders." He was declared fugitive 5th May 1684, but was included in the Act of Parliament 4th July 1690 rescinding all fines and forfeitures.-[Wodrow's Hist., Acts Parl. ix., Brown's Hist. of Indulg., Barbour's Tributes.]

 

1685. PATRICK GEDDIE, A.M., son of Mitchell G., skipper in St. Andrews, graduated at the Univ. there 20th July 1650, and licen. by that Presb. 14th Jan. 1657, resided in that city, where he had property, 29th Aug. 1671; ousted by the rabble, and died in 1689.-[Act. Rect. Univ. St. And., Decreets Regality of St. And., MS. Acc. of Min. 1689.]

 

1689. THOMAS WARNER, A.M., noticed above, returned, and was restored by the Act of Parliament 25th April 1690, was a member of Assembly that year, and also of 1692. He was the last survivor of those who had been in the ministry before the Restoration, and died, FATHER of the Church, l0th Sept. 1716, in his 85th year, and 59th min. Though eminent for piety and talent, yet when a preacher, and called suddenly to assist the min. of a neighbouring par. at a. communion, the latter, in prayer, " acknowledged the Lords goodness in carrying through the work, when all his helpers failed him, and he had none but a young lad, and he gey-an short-breathed " (not lengthy or long-winded). Mr W. marr. 1st a sister of Colonel Strachan; 2dly, a daugh. of James Greir of Milmark, and had a daugh., Agnes, who marr. the succeeding incumbent.-[Syn., and Presb. 1713. ROBERT DONALDSON, studied divinity at the Univ. of Glasgow, licen. by the Presb. of Dumbarton 3d June 17 07, called 23d April, and ord. (assist. and suc.) 8th Sept. 1713; died 31st March 1745, in 32d min. He marr. 1st Nov. 1717 Agnes, daugh. of the former min.; she died 24th Jan. 1769, and bad a son, William, min. of Parton.-[Mun. 1747. WILLIAM M'KIE, Son of Mr William M., min. of Balmaghie, licen. by the Presb. 29th April 1742, called 3d April 1746, and ord. 25th June after; died 18th June 1779, in 61st age, and 33d min. He marr., 7th Feb. 1751, Katharine-Maria, daugh. of Dr David Verner, Professor of Philosophy in the Univ. and Marischal College Aberdeen; she died 25th Nov. 1770, and bad four sons and six daughters.-[Presb., Syn., and Test. 1780. NATHANIEL M`KIE, third son of the preceding, born 25th April 1757, licen. by the Presb. 7th Oct. 1778, pres. by George III. in April, and ord. 24th Aug. 1780, died 11th Oct. 1790, in 34th age and 11th min. He marr. 24th May 1781 Mary, eldest daugh. of Alex
