1747. ROBERT HUNTER, A.M., studied at the Univ. of Glasgow, and took his degree 30th April 1716, holding a bursary there in 1721, licen. by the Presb. here 5th June 1728, became preacher at Leadhills, was called 20th Aug., and ord. (assist. and suc.) 29th Oct. 1747; died 9th May 1770, in 76th age and 23d min. He marr. 1st Janet, daugh. of the preceding minister, who died 27th Dec. 1755, aged 30; 2dly, 4th June 1757, Marion Bell, who died 2d Dec. 1779.-[Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., Presb., and Syn. 1770. JOHN ROBERTSON, A.M., acquired his degree at the Univ. of St. Andrews in 1759, Licen. by the Presb. of Dumfries 16th Dec. 1766, called 23d Nov. 1769, ord. (assist. and suc.) 26th April thereafter; died 18th March 1803, in 59th age and 33d min. He marr. 5th June 1776, Agnes, daugh. of John Maxwell, Esq. of Munshes; she died at Dumfries 1st Oct. 1826, and had Elizabeth, spouse of the Rev. James Rae, Kirkgunzeon, and Nancy, spouse of Lieut. 1803. JAMES RICHARDSON, ord. min. of the Presbyterian congregation at Sunderland, pres. to this par. by William, Duke of Queensberry in July, and adm. 15th Sept. ; died 28th Feb. 1843, in his 76th year and 43d min. He marr. 1st 8th Nov. 1803 Elizabeth Maclean, who died 6th June 1824, aged 49, having had James, Eleanor, and Catherine; 2dlg, 4th Dec. 1834, Margaret Fowler.-Publication-Account of the Parish (New St. Acc. iv.)-[Presb., and Syn. KIRKBRIDE.

The Church was dedicated to St. Bride, and previous to the Reformation belonged to the Abbey of Holyrood. The Parish was supplied by THOMAS WEIR, reader at Nov. 1567, THOMAS MAKGUNZEANE at Beltyn 1568, and ALEXANDER MYLL from Beltyn 1571 to 1574, WILLIAM RUNSYMAN, from 1574 to 1578, WILLIAM DOUGLAS 1579, and SIMON PURDIE from 1585 to 1591. It was suppressed, however, and annexed to Durrisdeer and Sanquhar, by the Lords Commissioners of Teinds, 19th July 1727.
