effusion of blood, certain persons were so exasperated that they cast his family out of the house, without hurting any. He was deposed by the Presb. of Arbroath 5th June 1717, for intrusion, accession to the late rebellion, and contumacy. He marr. 1691. JAMES ELDER, from Ireland, was a young man ready to be brought on trials at the first meeting of Presb. min. in Lothian after the liberty 6th July 1687, called in March and ord. (at Penpont) 29th May 1691; was a member of the Assembly 1692, demitted - and died between 28th Jan. and 17th June 1722, in 31st min. 1720. ALEXANDES BAYNE, son of John B., of New Grange, whom he succeeded in the estates, chaplain to the laird of Lamington, licen. by the Presb. of Biggar 22d Aug. 1717, called 24th Dec. 1719, and ord. 2d June following; died 15th May 1776, in his 84th year and 56th min. He marr. in 1721 Isabella, daugh. of John Dalrymple of Waterside; she died in 1770, and had Mary, who marr. Mr. Will. Forrester, min. of St. Mungo, and Harriet, who marr. 1777. JAMES WALLACE, pres. by Charles, Duke of Queensberry and Dover in Nov. 1776, and ord. 24th April thereafter; died 16th Dec. 1794, in 59th age and 18th min. He marr. 4th April 1779 Grizel Williamson, who died 27th April 1824, and had two sons, George, min. of Durrisdeer, and Robert, writer and solicitor, Dumfries, and two daugh. JAMES KEYDEN, son of Mr William K., min. of Penpont, licen. by the Presb. of Perth 30th Sept. 1789, and ord. by them 7th April 1795 as Chaplain to Drummond of Perth's Fencibles, pros. to this par. by the Commissioner for William, Duke of Queensberry 26th Aug., and adm. 24th Sept. same year; died 25th May 1826, in 62d age and 32d min. He marr. 29th April 1826, Helen eldest daugh. of James Grierson, Esq. of Dalgoner, she died at Helensburgh 17th May 1845, and had a son James, writer, Glasgow.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., &c.]
1827. WILLIAM MENZIES, Son of the Rev. William M., Lanark, studied divinity at the Univ. of Edinburgh, licen. by the Presb. of Lanark 29th Aug. 1821, pres. by Walter Francis, Duke of Buccleuch and his curators in Oct. 1826, and ord. 26th April succeeding; had D.D. from the Univ. of Glasgow 10th Dec. 1855. He marr. 2d June 1829 Agnes, daugh. of John Elder, Esq., one of the Depute Clerks of Session, and has two sons, John and James, and two daugh., Agnes and Jane.-Publication-Account of the Parish (New St. Acc. iv.)-[Presb.
