1773. GEORGE HOME, son of Mr Abraham H., min. of Whittingham, born 12th Dec. 1749; licen. by the Presb. of Dunse 1st Dec. 1772, pres. by George III. in Jan., and ord. 13th May 1773; demitted 25th June 1816, and died lat Sept. 1836, in his 87th year, and 64th min, He marr. 7th Oct. 1774 Margaret Robertson, who died 2d Dec. 1828, aged 81, and had issue Publication-Account of the Parish (Sinclair's St. Acc. i.).-[Presb. 1799. ABRAHAM HOME, son of the preceding, born 25th Dec. 1775, licen. by the Presb 25th July 1797, appointed by George III. in July, and ord. (assistant and suc.) 29th Aug, 1799; demitted 29th March 1814, and was subsequently settled at Greenlaw.-[Presb.Reg.,&c.

 

1814. GEORGE TOUGH, trans. from Beath, appointed by George, Prince Regent, 15th April; and adm. (assist. and suc.) 13th Oct.; died at Edinburgh 29th July 1842, in 68th age, and 41st min. He had no inconsiderable ingenuity as a mechanic, and at his leisure hours employed himself in constructing an Orrery upon an improved plan, which was presented to George IV., on his visit to the Scottish Capital 26th Aug. 1822, and of which His Majesty "was pleased to express his most gracious approbation." Mr T. marr. 12th Feb. 1814, Elizabeth, daugh. of his predecessor, she died at Edinburgh 9th June 1849, aged 74 and had Margaret Hay, and others.-Publications-Britain's Sorrow and Consolation, a sermon, Edin 1820, 8vo. COLDINGHAM,

The church was dedicated to St. Mary, and previous to the Reformation, belonged to the Abbey of Coldingham.

 

1567. WILLIAM LAME, one of those whom the General Assembly 20th Dec. 1560 thought apt and able to minister; he had for stipend only jc li. (£8 6s. 8d. sterl.). He signed the articles drawn by the Synod, and presented by the Superintendent 6th Oct. 1572. In 1579 Aiton and Lammertoun were also in the charge with jc xx li and the kick lands for stipend He died 11th March 1583. In his latter will "he commends his apirit to God, his bodie to be erdit in the kirkyaird of C., willing and beseking the parochinars thairof to ordoure that place to be mair cumlie and decentlie kept then it bes bene in tyme bygane." 1585. DAVID HUME, trans. from Auldcamus, whence he fled for fear of being accused of treason in 1585. He was a member of Assembly in May 1586, and dissented from their annulling the sentence of excommunication against Archbishop Adamson. Continued and was presented to the Vicarage before 14th June 1592, but was obliged to flee, and had his moveables escheit soon after -Publication-Three Letters (Wodrow Miscell).-[Reg. Assig., Pres. 1593. ALEXANDER WATSONE, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of St. Andrews in 1582 In June 1609 he was a witness in the trial of forfeiture for high treason against Logan of Restalrig, eldest son of Robert Logan, who had been accessory to the Gowrie Conspiracy, and
