1663. JAMES ROBERTSON, residing in Kelso, was taken on trials before the Presb. 25th Aug., on these being finished he got a testimonial to the Archbishop 1st Dec. following for ordination to this parish. He was trans. to Nenthorn in the succeeding year).-[Kelso Presb. Reg.]

1691. WILLIAM THOMSON, called , and ord. (at Lochmaben, by the Presb. of Dumfries) 27th May; demitted about April 1'716. It has been related, “that on a sacramental occasion he began his action sermon by telling his people he had dreamed, and what did they think he had dreamed 2 that he had seen the muckle horn'd deil, and asked him where he was going? he said to Tundergarth sacrament, An' what are ye gaun to do there? I expect some prey today, says be; but I tauld him he suldna get ane, except John o' Kipel-fit, an if he wad lead my peats he sudna hae him either. Let us now begin to the subject of the day."
