1679. JOHN LEARMONTH, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 31st July 16 62, licen. by George, Bishop of Edinburgh, 26th April 1666; ousted by the people at the Revolution, and died at Dumfries 9th June 1 7 26, aged about 84.-[Reg. 1691. JOHYN DUNLOP, passed trials before the Presb. of Lanark, and was recommended 24th May 1682, for licence, called in March, and ord. (at Lochmaben, by the Presb. of Dumfries) 29th May 1691; he was a member of Assembly 1692, and got his kirk and manse repaired by order of the Duke of Queensberry in 1705, at an expense of vic lx li xvi s. iiij d. which he laid out., and for which he was long unremunerated; deposed in 1715, he petitioned the Assembly 16th May 1716, stating he had not " got liberty to defend his reputation, and right to his parish by legal defences," but they " found the matter not duly before them, and therefore they rejected the petition." He took up his residence at Kilmarnock, and subsequently at Irvine. He marr. 22d Sept. 1691 Agnes daugh. of Bailie John Irving, of Drumcantran, and had a daugh. 1717. JOHN WHITEHEAD, son of John W. of Bonarick, born in 1679, ord. 24th March 1717; died 5th July 1736, in his 57th year and 20th min.-[Presb., Syn., and Test. Reg. (Dumf. Tombst.).]

WILLIAM CUNINGHAME, A.M., son of Mr William C. min. of Kemback, studied at the Old College, and took his degree at the Univ. of St Andrews 6th May 1725, got a bursary, and was licen. by the Presb. there 28th Oct. 1731, pres. by Charles, Duke of Queensberry in Dec. 1736, and ord. 21st April thereafter; trans. to Durrisdeer 7th June 1 7 43.[Act Rect. 1745. JAMES LORIMER, licen. by the Presb. of Lanark 20th Sept. 17 38, called 31st Jan., and ord. 2d May 1745; trans. to Yarrow 4th Dec. 1764.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg,.]

JAMES MOODY, licen. by the Presb. of Penpont 4th April 1764, pres. by Charles, Duke of Queensberry 1st July 1765, and ord. 13th March following; trans. to Perth (2d Charge) 5th May 1772.-[Presb., and Syn. JACOB DICKSON, ord. in Aug. 1770, as min. to the Presbyterian congregation at Blennerhasset, pres. to this par. by Charles, Duke of Queensberry and Dover 18th July, and adm. 17th Dec. 1772; died 4th Nov. 1824, in his 88th year and 55th min. ANDREW BEVERIDGE MURRAY, licen. by the Presb. of Penpont 5th April 1813,1 pres. by Charles, Marquis of Queensberry 19th July, and ord. 22d Sept. 1825; died 28th Sept. 1861, in 76th age and 37th min. He marr. 15th Jan. 1827 Helen daugh. of Rev. Alex. Monilaws, min. of Kirkpatrick-Fleming, and had Andrew J. min. of Eddleston and two daughters.-[Presb. Reg., &c.] |
