1627. GEORGE HOME, A.M., graduated at the Univ. of St Andrews in 1615, was on the exercise at Haddington 12th July 1626, pres. by Charles I. 26th Jan. following; continued 2d July 1649, but the church was vacant 8th Feb. 1650. Contributions were made in his behalf by the Sessions of Smalholm 23d July 1654, and of Tranent 11th Nov. 1655, and an Act of Parliament, 18th June 1661, ordered a year's stipend of Foulden, to be paid for his service there from 1st December 1659 to 31st Aug. 1660.-[Act. 1652. ALEXANDER GIBSONE, A.M., trans. from South Leith, 2d charge, adm. alter 17th March, and died in Oct. thereafter, aged about 42, in 12th min. His Inventar and detts amounted to xxviijm ijc lvij li. xi s. iiij d. He marr. Jean, daugh. of Robert Meiklejohn, tailor, burgess of Edinburgh, and had a daugh., Jean, to whom John Gibson, Jean Pringle, his mother, and Sir Alexander Gibson of Durie, elder, Knight, were tutors.--Test. 1653. WILLIAM HUME, trans. from Ellem, adm. after 17th March. An Act of Parliament 25th June 1661, shewed that "by the prevailing usurping power he was bereft of his stipend for two years for his loyaltie and opposition to the remonstrating partie, and declared it was their opinion that he should be repossest to the kirk of A., and payment made of the whole stipend, ijm iiijc 1i. which was violentlie taken from him by the Vsurpers." Conforming to Episcopacy, he was pres. by Charles II. 4th Oct. 1662, coll. 20th Jan. 1663, and trans. to Loudoun before 13th Oct. 1664.-[Acts Parl. vii., Reg. Pres., Collat., et Sec. 1667. JOHN BETHUNE, A.M., a native of Ross-shire, obtained his degree at the Univ. and King's College, Aberdeen, 13th July 1658, licen. by George, Bishop of Edinburgh 18th Aug. 1665, ord. and coll. 29th March 1667, pres. by Charles II. 3d April 1668; deprived by the Privy Council 12th Sept. 1689, for not reading the Proclamation of the Estates, nor praying for their Majesties William and Mary, but praying for King James, and not observing the thanksgiving. 1694. GEORGE HUME of Abbey, A.M., got his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 1683, licen. by the united Presb 28th May 1691, called 18th Sept., and ord. 23d Oct. 1694; trans. to Abbey St Bathans 26th Nov. 1706.-[Edin. Grad., Presb. Reg., Reg. Old Dec.]
1712. THOMAS ANDERSON, trans. from Edrom, called 20th Nov. 1711, and adm. 12th March thereafter; died 11th March 1751, in 50th min. He marr. 4th June 1702 Christian, daugh. of Bailie Henry Ferguson of Edinburgh, she died 22d June 1759.-[Presb., and Edin. Reg. (Marc.), &c.1
1753. PATRICK HEPBURN, trans. from Walston, pres. by the Presb. jure devoluto, 17th Nov. 1752, and adm. 14th June following; died 15th Aug. 1772, in 72d age and 39th min.
