1731. GABRIEL GULLAN, trans. from Wamphray, called 19th Jan. and adm. 16th March; died 11th April 1764, in 72d age, and 47th min. Elizabeth Milligan, his relict, died 19th June 1780. He had a son William, min. of Legerwood.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., Tombst., &c.]
1765. MATTHEW CLEGHORN, trans. from St. Andrews, Orkney, pres. by George III. 7th Sept. 1764, and adm. 18th July succeeding; died 17th June 1781, in 71st age and 34th min. He marr. 1st, in 1726, and 2dly, in 1749 Euphemia daugh. of Mr Robert (great-grandson of Bishop) Graham, she died at Edinburgh 27th Oct. 1809, aged 83, and had two daugh.; Ann who marr. the Rev. Robert Little of Applegarth, and Euphemia who marr. the Rev. Bryce Little, min. of Covington.-[Presb. Reg., Tombst., &c.]

THOMAS HENDERSON, licen. by the Presb. 7th Oct. 1777, pres. by George III. 1st Sept. 1781, and ord. 28th March following; deposed 4th April 1799 for habitual drunkenness; which sentence was affirmed by the Synod 17th April, and by the Assembly 4th June thereafter. JOHN HENDERSON, licen. by the Presb. of Haddington 2d Sept. 1777, ord. min. at Monkwearmouth, became Chaplain to the miners at Wanlockhead in 1794, pres. to this par. by George III. 7th Sept., and adm. 7th Nov. 1799; died 16th March 1833, in 47th min. He marr. 1st, 22d July 1789 Mary daugh. of the Rev. 1833. DAVID BUCHAN DOWIE, A.M., prom. from Maxwellton Chapel of Ease, pres. by William IV. in July, and adm. 7th Nov.; having joined the Free Secession he was declared no longer a min. of this Church l3th June 1843, was adm. to the Fr. church Largs same year, and disappeared 19th Oct. 1863. He marr. 1st, Miss Hill, 2dly, Jane Gilfillan M'Crone.-[Presb. Reg., &c.]

1615. GEORGE PRYD, A.M., had his degree from the Univ. of St Andrews in 1600, deprived " as unqualified and not worthie to exerce such ane calling." The Privy Council 4th Nov. 1624 being informed by James, Archbishop of Glasgow, "that he doeth notwithstanding, to the offence of God, contempt of the ordouris of the Kirke, and scandall of the ministrie, still preatch and minister the sacraments at the said kirk, ordanis and commandis James Johnestoun of that ilk, that he on nawayes suffer nor permit the said George to preach nor to minister the Sacramentis at the said kirk at ony time heirafter, quhilk the said James promeist to do." Mr P. was restored, however, previous to 12th Aug. 1632, when he contributed xx merks to the Univ. of Glasgow; continued 5th Jan. 1644, but 5th Feb. 1645 the Gen. Assembly referred to the Presb. to go on with the process against him. His son George was served heir to |
