1834. THOMAS MARJORIBANKS, son of M. of Marjoribanks, pres. by William, Earl of Mansfield, in March, and ord. 21st Sept.; trans. to Stenton 26th Oct., and adm. on 22d Nov. 1849. He marr. 5th March 1835 Mary only daugh. of the Rev. Dr Cook, Professor of Moral Philosophy St. Andrews, and has issue, of whom George is presentee to West-Linton.-Publication- A few plain Remarks for plain men, Dumfries 1843, 8vo.-[Presb. Reg., &c.]

1647. THOMAS THOMSONE, A.M., had his degree at the Univ. of St. Andrews in 1628; he conformed to Episcopacy, and died 12th Dec. 1678, in his 82d year. The insicht of his house was valued at 1 li.. Frie geir, d d., ijm iijc xliv li. x s. He marr. Marie Cockburne, who died in Jan. 1679, and had two sons, Alexander, and Mr Thomas, who succeeded him in the charge. -[Act. Rect. 1682. THOMAS THOMSON, A.M., youngest son of the preceding, graduated at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 1673, became schoolmaster of Alloa, passed trials before the Presb. of Stirling, and was recommended 6th March 1678 for licence, pres. by Arthur, Archbishop of Glasgow, jure devoluto in 1682; having been zealous in prosecuting his parishioners he was obnoxious to the Presbyterians, by whom he was ousted in 1689, and died 24th March 1698, aged about 45. He marr. in June 1697 Marion daugh. of Mr John Malcolm, min. of Holywood, and had a son Thomas.-[Edin. Grad., Test. Reg. (Dumf), Tombst., Rule's Sec. Vindication, MS. 1694. DUGALD SIMSON, was a student at the Univ. of Glasgow in 1682, adm. in Sept. 1694; died between 25th April and 23d May 1704. He marr. in Jan. 1698 a daugh. of Mr Alex. 1706. DAVID WIGHTMAN, A.M., trans. from Terregles, called 27th Feb., (but it was not sustained, so a new one was appointed by the Presb. 5th March, on account of the use of that illegal and oppressive word Patron), and adm. 18th April; he was active in the settlement of Lochmaben in Sept. 1723, which was declared by the Assembly 1724 to be null and void. He died 1st Feb. 1748 aged about 67, in 46th min. He marr. 20th Aug. 1706, Marion, daugh. of John Cannon of Formistoun, she died 11th Oct. 1762.-Publication-Mr Taylor's Case |
