1761. RICHARD SCOTT, trans. from Cranshaws, pres. by Henry, Duke of Buccleuch, with consent of his Curators, in June, and adm. 17th Sept.; died 13th Feb. 1790, in his 62d year, and 31st min. Fervent in the divine service, steady and warm in friendship, and mild and gentle in manner, his life exhibited a pattern to his flock. He marr. 24th April 1761 Mary Turnbull, who died in Dec. 1796, and had five sons and three daugh., of whom James was merchant in New York, and John and George merchants in London.-Publication-Letters on the Culture of Potatoes (Weekly Mag. xxix.)-[Presb., and Syn. 1816. ROBERT SHAW. youngest son of the Rev. George S., min. of Abbotshall, studied at the United College, and was licen. by the Presb. of St. Andrews 5th May 1802, appointed to Caerlanrig Chapel in July 1804, to which he was ord. by the Presb. of Jedburgh 10th June 1807; pres. by Charles William, Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry, in April, and adm. (assist. and suc.) 10th May 1816; died 16th April 1853, in his 73d year, and 46th min. He marr. 23d March 1818, Mary, daugh. of the Rev. Will. H. Moncrieff, min. of Annan, she died 9th July 1856, and had a son George, farmer, Dinley, and four daughters.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., &c.]
