20th July 1834, in his 78th year and 51st min. He marr. 29th March 1787, Catherine, youngest daugh. of Will. Irving, Esq. of Ellerbeck, she died at Noblehill 23d Oct. 1836, aged 78, and had two sons James, min. of Annan, another a Captain in the Army, and two daugh., one of whom marr. Rev. A. B. 1834. GEORGE HASTIE, son of Mr James H., tailor, Edinburgh, educated at the High School, and studied at the Univ. there, licen. by the Presb. of Dumfries 21 st July 12624, pros. by Sir Patrick Maxwell of Springkell, Bart. in Aug., and ord. 5th Dec. 1834. On adhering to the Protest, joining in the Free Secession, and signing the deed of Demission, he was declared no longer a min. of this church 24th May 1843, and died at Moffat 2d Nov. 1856, aged 55, in 22d min. He marr. 1st 30th March 1835 Margaret Stewart Laing, who died 16th Feb. 1847, aged 43; 2dly 26th July 1851 Margaret Kinnear.-[Presb. Reg., Tombst., &c.]
KIRKCONNEL. The church was dedicated to St Connel, and the parish united to Kirkpatrick-Fleming 24th June 1609.

1615. THOMAS BELL, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 29th July 1600, licen. by the Presb. of Paisley 5th Sept. 1605, in 1615 Carruthers and Pennersax were also under his charge; he died in 1622, aged about 42.-[Reg. Laur. Univ. Edin., Reg. Assig., Tombst.]
1630. THOMAS BEL, in 1632 he gave xx li towards building the Library of the College of Glasgow, and continued 25th April 1648. 1662. HUGH SCOT, A.M., graduated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 13th June 1651; deprived by the Acts of Parliament11lth June, and of Privy Council 1st Oct. 1662, and died 5th April 1680, in his 49th year.
