1700. JAMES CURRIE, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 13th July 1695, licen. by the Presb. of Earlston 16th Sept. 1697, called by the Presb. jure devoluto in March, and ord. 9th May 1700; died 25th Feb. 1726, in 53d age and 26th min., Isobell Bell, relict. His second son James was min. of Middlebie, besides whom he had John, Andrew, Helen (marr. Thomas Bell, in Westside of Blacksyk), Agnes, Janet, and Sybilla.-[Reg. Laur. Univ. 1729. ALEXANDER ORR, trans. from Muirkirk, called 26th Feb. and adm. l0th July; died 19th June 1767, in his 81st year and 51st min. He marr. in 1722, Agnes daugh. of John Dalrymple of Waterside, she died in 1760, and had three sons, Peter, John, and Alexander, and two daugh., Barbara, who marr. Mr John Craig, min. of Ruthwell, and Agnes, who marc. Mr William Young, min. of Hutton.-[Presb., and Syn. Reg., Tombst., Duncan's MS. Genealogy, &c.]

1784. JAMES YORSTOUN, trans. from Middlebie, pres. by William, Duke of Queensberry 8th Jan. and adm. 1st July; died 6th April 1834, in 79th age and 57th min. 1834. ROBERT MENZIES, son of the Rev. William M., Lanark, educated at the grammar school there, and afterwards at the High School, Edinburgh, where he became Dux of the Rector's class in 1816, licen. by the Presb. of Lanark 4th Aug. 1824, pres. by Lieut.-Gen. Matthew Sharpe of Hoddam in May, and ord. 2d Sept. 1834. Had D.D. from the Univ. of Edinburgh in April 1864. He marr. 28th Oct. 1835 Martha Reid Coldstream, and has William, one of the min. of Ayr, John Coldstream, Lieutenant, R.E., and others. ECCLESFECHAN.

The parish was supplied with Hoddam by ALEXANDER BROWN, reader, from 1578 to 1585; and was also united to Hoddam by Act of Parliament 24th June 1609.
