PRESBYTERY OF DUNSE p. 424

 

1758. ALEXANDER HUME, trans. from Abbey St Bathans, called 16th, and adm. 30th Nov. died 30th July 1768, in 14th min. He was twice married, and left a widow, Janet Jamieson; who marr. in Oct. 1779, yet imposed on the Ministers "Widows' Fund by drawing an annuity as a widow to Whitsunday 1782. To prevent similar frauds, an action was raised at the instance of the Collector against her and her husband, who were found liable, in 1783, by the Lord Ordinary (Gardenston) in repetition of the annuities, and expense of process.-[Sess., and Test Reg. 1769. ROBERT HOME, son of Mr William H., min. of Fogo, born 30th Oct. 1744, called 20th April, and ord. 21st Sept. 1769; he was also appointed Chaplain of Edinburgh Castle, the duties of which he discharged by deputy, and died Father of the Church, 25th March 1838, in his 94th year, and 69th min. Distinguished for good sense and moderation in Church polity. He marr., 25th Dec. 1777, a lady who died 27th April 1822, and had sixteen children, only four of whom survived him, Joan marr. 1823. WALTER HOME, son of the preceding, studied at the Univ. of Edinburgh, and was licen. by the Presb. 7th May 1822, appointed by Sir William Purves Hume Campbell, of Marchmont, Bart. in Dec. following, and ord. (assist. and suc.) 17th April 1823. He marr. 10th Jan. 1839, and has a son Robert, min. of Glencairn, and others.-Publication-Account of the Parish.-(New St. Acc. ii.)-[Presb.
