1744. ROBERT M'MORINE, licen. by the Presb. of Penpont, became assistant to Mr And. Ewart, min. of Kells, called 29th March, and ord. 2d Aug. 1744, got a new church built in 1748, and died 19th Jan. 1774, in 65th age and 30th min. He marr., 13th Nov. 1749, Elizabeth Maxwell, who died 19th March 1801, and had six sons, Will., min. of Caerlaverock, Alex., assistant-surgeon in the H.E.I.C.S. at Bengal, John, Robert, George, and Charles, and two daughters.-[Presb., and Syn. DAVID LAMONT, son of Mr John L., min. of Kells, licen. by the Presb. of Kirkcudbright 6th May 1772, pres. by George III. 31st Jan., and ord. 25th Aug. 1774; had D.D. from the Univ. of Edinburgh 15th June 1780, was appointed one of the Chaplains of the Prince of Wales in Aug. 1785, and elected, 16th May 1822, Moderator of the Gen. Assembly, after a keen canvass throughout the Church, by a majority of 216 to 84, and as such had the honour of reading an address from the Commission of Assembly, and of preaching before George IV. in the church of St. Giles, Edinburgh, during the royal visit to Scotland; he was appointed one of his Chaplains in Ordinary for Scotland in 1824, and died father of the Synod 7th Jan. 1837, in his 85th year and 63d min. In the early part of his life he was an ardent Whig, and being an ingenious and fluent speaker, he, both in the Stewartry where he was a proprietor, and in the Church courts, gave ample proofs of his ability and eloquence. He marr. 2d July 1799, Anne, daugh. of David Anderson, Esq., examiner of his Majesty's Customs in Scotland; she died l0th Sept. 1857, and had a son, John, advocate, afterwards brewer in London.-Publications-Two single Sermons, Dumfries, 1785-1797, 8vo. 1821. ROBERT WALLACE, licen. by the Presb. of Stranraer 7th Sept. 1814, and ord. by them 4th March 1818, as min. of the Presbyterian congregation at Maryport, pres. by George IV. in Dec. 1820, and adm. (assist. and suc.) 19th April succeeding; trans. to Dumfries (St. Michael's) 21st Oct. 1830.-[Presb. Reg.]
1832. GEORGE JOHN CRAIG DUNCAN, eldest son of the Rev. Dr. D. of Ruthwell, licen. by the Presb. of Annan 1st June 1827, appointed (assist. and suc.) by William IV. in Feb., and ord. 28th June 1832. On joining in the Free Secession, and signing the deed of Demission, he was declared no longer a min. of this Church 28th June 1843, adm. to the Free Church North Shields 23d May 1844, to Greenwich 1851, and appointed Lecturer on Pastoral Theology and Homiletics in the Presbyterian Theological College, London, 1851.
