1594. john douglas, A.M., took his degree at the original laureation at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 1587; continued in 1599, and was trans, to Canonbie about 1607. — [Reg. Laur. Univ. Edin., and Assig.]
1607. george rowlle, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of St. Andrews in 1600. In 1627 the number of communicants in the parish was about eighty, while there was "great necessitie of a schoole but no foundation for it." Mr R. was a member of the Gen. Assembly 1638, and was pres. to Lennel by Charles I., 1st Oct. 1641, but the matter went no farther; he continued in 1646, the par. was vacant in Oct. 1652. — [Act. Rect. Univ. St. And., Reg. 1668. thomas wolfe, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of St. Andrews in 1625, recommended by the Presb., to the Synod to be helper to the preceding in April 1646, licen. by George Bishop of Edinburgh 7th Nov. 1662, ord. and coll. 16th Jan. and adm. 2d Feb. 1668; continued 24th Oct. 1671. — [Act. 1684. robert smyth, A.M., acquired his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 4th Aug. 1677, attended the children of Robert, Viscount Oxford, he passed trials before the Presb. of Dalkeith, and was recommended to the Bishop 4th Oct. 1683 for licence, was recommended for L. to the Bishop by the Presb. of Dunbar 1st July 1684, and pres. same month; demitted 9th which was accepted 10th June 1714, he retired to Dunbar.
