1651. ROBERT ARCHIBALD, A.M., got his degree from the Univ. of Glasgow in 1643, called and adm. in Nov. 1651; deprived by the Acts of Parliament 11th June, and of the Privy Council 1st Oct. 1662; died in Edinburgh 6th May 1688, aged about 63, in 37th min. He had four daugh., Jean, Elizabeth, who marr. John Archbald, servitor to Sir John Hamilton of Halcraig, Marion-Dr. George Archibald, physician, and Margaret,-[Mun. Univ. HENRY KNOX, A.M., youngest son of William K., bookbinder, Edinburgh, bapt. 9th May 1641, had his degree from the T Univ. there 18th July 1664.He complained to the Privy Council 6th Jan. 1676, that six or seven persons had attacked his house 28th Dec. preceding, beat himself and his wife, and carried off his household furniture. He entered burgess and guild brother of his native city 11th Dec. 1678, and was trans. to Bowden about 1681. -[Reg. Laur. Univ. Edin., Wodrow's Hist., Edin. Guild., Test. 1683. ALEXANDER MELDRUM, he either demitted or was deprived after the Revolution, and died 11th March 1694.-[Peterhead Sess., Test. (Dumf.), and Dumfries Reg. (Bur.), MS. Acc. of Min. 1689.]
1689. SAMUEL HALLIDAY, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Glasgow in 1656, became min. at Omagh in Ireland about 1662, called in Oct. and adm. 26th Nov. 1689; trans. to Dryfesdale 15th April 1691.-[Mun. Univ. Glasg. iii., .Reid's Ireland ii., Presb. Reg.]

1701. JAMES GILCHRIST, trans. from New Cumnock, called in March, and adm. 14th May; deposed 4th Sept. 1716, for irregular and schismatical courses; he afterwards formed a Presb. with Mr John Hepburn, min. of Urr, about 1713, which lasted a very short while; died 18th Aug. 1721, in 47th age.
