Monan's, when he was pres. to this par. by—, and adm. 28th March 1682; deprived by the Privy Council 3d Sept. 1689, for not reading the Proclamation of the Estates, not praying for their Majesties William and Mary, and praying for King James. He went to Oxford, but returned and took up his residence in the par. of Scone, where he was served with a libel 16th Feb., and discharged by the Presb. from intruding 13th Sept. 1710. He died at Comlongan, Dumfriesshire, 28th March 1727, in 74th age and 46th min., after officiating as domestic chaplain to David, Viscount Stormont, for twenty-three years.—[Act. Rect. Univ. 1691. john dysart, A.M., obtained his degree at the Univ. of Glasgow in 1680, ord. to be min. of the Presbyterian congregation at Dalton, Northumberland, in 1686, called to this par. —, and adm. 30th April 1691; was a member of the Gen. 1698. john dauson, A.M., graduated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 9th July 1694, called in May, and ord. 14th July 1698; died in Nov. 1726, aged about 53, in 29th min. 1727. james dawson, A.M., son of the preceding, acquired his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 9th Nov. 1722, attended on divinity in the Univ. of Glasgow under Professor Simson, licen. by the Presb. 25th Feb. 1725, pres, by Sir Alexander Cockburn of Langton in April, and ord. 18th August 1727; trans, to the West Kirk, St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh, 31st Jan. 1733. — [Reg. 1766. andrew smith, licen. by the Presb. of Edinburgh 25th April 1764, ord. 24th July 1766; died 10th Feb. 1789, in his 48th year, and 23d min. distinguished for his manly and pathetic eloquence in the pulpit, engaging manners, exquisite vein of humour in company, and for his humanity and benevolence of heart. 1789. alexander girvan, trans, from Lunan, pres. by Miss Elizabeth Gavin of Langton in July, and adm. 30th Oct.; died 25th June 1809, in 58th age, and 28th min. He marr.
