1648. MARK DUNCAN or DUNCANSONE, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh in July 1642, adm. 27th Jan. 1648; died 15th Nov. 1651, aged 27, in 3d min.-[Reg. Laur. Univ. Edin., Jedburgh Presb., and Syn. (Kelso Presb.) Reg., Tombst.]

 

1657. THOMAS LOWES, A.M., graduated at the Univ. of Edinburgh in July 1643, deprived by the Acts of Parliament 11th June, and of Privy Council 1st Oct. 1662.-[Reg. Laur. Univ. Edin., Inq. Ret. Gen. 4213, Wodrow's Hist., Jedburgh Presb. Reg.]

 

1665. THOMAS WILKIE, A.M., took his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 14th July 1659, became a min. in London; he had an annual rent of iijc merks from the lands of Feirlienown, Bewlie, &c., Dec. 1669, and was trans. to North Leith in 1672.-[Edin. Grad., No. Berwick, and So. Leith Sess., Edin. Presb., and New Gen. Reg. Sasines xxi.]

 

1672. HEW SCOTT, A.M., formerly of Oxnam, entered 1st Dec., and continued 12th Sept. 1678.-[Sess., Pres., and Test. Reg.]

 

1689. JAMES SCOTT, A.M., obtained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 7th April 1675; deprived by the Act of Parliament 25th April 1690, restoring the Presbyterian ministers, and died in Edinburgh 17th June 1715, aged about 60.-[Edin. Grad., MS. Acc, of min. 1689.]

 

1690. THOMAS LOWES, A.M., residing in the neighbourhood of Traquair-House in 1688, where he and his wife secreted two trunks, filled with robes and other parapharnalia used in the service of the Roman Catholic persuasion, which were afterwards burnt at the Cross of Peebles. He was restored by the Act of Parliament 25th April 1690; and demitted, which was accepted, 4th March 1691.-[Chambers's Ann. ii., Presb., and Edin. Reg. (Bur.)]

 

1692. HUGH CRAIG, son of JOHN C. (a great favourer of the Covenanters), merchant-burges of Edinburgh; he also entered merchant-burges there, but was a student at the Univ. of Glasgow (3d class) in 1667, and l0th June 1691, resident for the most part at Todshaugh, called in Oct., and ord. 15th Dec. 1692; died between Oct. 1713 and April 1714, in 22d min. He marr. Christian Galloway, and had two sons and two daugh. Francis (licen. by the Presb., and called to Kinross, being accused of leaning towards Antinomianism, certain queries were put to him, which he readily answered, except one. The Synod of Fife, 1st Oct. 1729, declared they were not satisfied with his answers, and he declaring his willingness to quit the call, that he might no more be a bone of contention, the Synod laid it aside), John, , and Margaret, who marc. Mr Thomas Thomson, min. of Auchtermuchty. and was the grandmother of the great legal antiquary, Thomas T., and the distinguished landscape painter, John T., min. of Duddingston.-(Presb., Sess., Linlithg. 1714. HENRY DAVIDSON A.M., son of a gardener in the par. of Eckford, born in 1687, took his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 27th April 1705, licen. by the Presb. of Jedburgh 5th March 1712, called 10th Aug., and Ord. 21st Dec. 1714. He was one of the twelve brethren who gave in a representation and petition to the Gen. Assembly 11th May 1721, against an Act of the Assembly preceding, condemning the Marrow of Modern Divinity, from which they were scoffingly termed “The Twelve Apostles." Of these he was the last survivor. About 1735
