GEORGE HUME, A.M., took his degree at the Univ. of Glasgow 18th July 1672, entered the Divinity-Hall there 13th Oct. 1692, licen. by the Presb. of Kelso 23d Jan. 1694, called 3d Aug. and ord. 25th Sept. same year; trans. 30th Dec. 1697, and adm. to Abbey St. Bathans 28th Feb. 1699.-[Mun. 1700. WILLIAM MACGHIE, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 26th Aug. 1693, called 25th Oct. 1699, and ord. 12th Jan. following; died 30th April 1725, aged about 52, in 26th min. Rachel Dunbar, his widow, died at Edinburgh in Nov. 1737, he had a son William, and a daugh. Margaret.-[Edin. Grad., Presb., and Test. Reg., Boston's Mem.]

 

1726. DAVID BROWN, A.M., trans. from Gordon, pres. by John, Duke of Roxburgh in Oct. 1725, and adm. 5th May succeeding ; he got a new church built in 1748, and died 12th March 1753, in 46th min. He marr. Janet Scott, and had a son William, min. of Maxton.-[Presb. Reg., Acts of Ass. 1726, Boston's Mem., New St. Acc. iii., &c.]

 

1754. WILLIAM TROTTER, licen. by the Presb. of Earlston 4th Nov. 1735. He was pres. to Culross end Charge by Charles Cochran, Esq. 1st May 1747, which was rejected by the Presb., and gave rise to a nice question before the Lords of Session, who sustained the Patrons right to the stipend 26th June 1751. He was ord. 13th Sept. 1749 to the Presbyterian congregation at South Shields, pres. to this par. by Robert, Duke of Roxburgh in Aug. 1753, and adm. 23d July thereafter; died 4th Sept. 1771, in 22d min. He marr. 28th Sept. 1764 Janet Thomson, who died at Kelso 19th Feb. 1804.-[Presb. Reg., Acts of Ass. 1748, Scots Mag. xiii., Morren's Ann. i., &c.]

 

1772. THOMAS ROBERTSON, brother of Mr James R. min. of Ratho, pres. by John, Duke of Roxburgh 18th Nov. 1771, and ord. 8th May following; died 5th Sept. 1805, in his 69th year, and 34th min. 1806. JOHN CAMPBELL, son of the Rev. William C., Lilliesleaf, licen. by the Presb. 1st April 1800, pres. by James, Duke of Roxburgh 1st Oct. 1805, and ord. 18th April succeeding; died at Bridge of Allan 25th April 1857, in his 79th year, and 52d min. He marr. 13th Dec. 1809 Jane, daugh. of Mr Richard Sheriff, farmer at Luggate.-Publication-Account of the Parish (New St. Acc. iii.)- [Presb. Reg., &c.]
