1693. geoege moodie, A.M., formerly of Fala, was received into communion by the Presb. of Edinburgh before 7th March 1693, called before 14th, and adm. 27th Sept. same year: died in May 1721, in 77th age and 48th min. He marr. Elizabeth Calderwood, and had two sons, William, and Roger, min. of Dunse, and a daugh., who mar.-------Cowbary, mason. Queensferry.—[Presb., Sess., and Test. Reg. 1722. william home, licen. by the Presb. of Chirnside 27th Nov. 1716, pres. by George I. in Oct. 1721, ord. 8th May 1722; died 18th Nov. 1756, in his 7lst year and 35th min. He marr. Isabel Oliphant, who survived him, and had Grizel, Andrew, and William.—[Presb. Reg., Tombst., Sinclair's xx., and New St. Acc. ii.]

 

1758. william home, trans, from Polwarth, pres. by George II. -------and adm. 21st Sept.; he was appointed Chaplain of Edinburgh Castle in 1778 (doing the duty by deputy), and died 30th Oct. 1784, in 74th age and 50th min. He marr. Mary Roddam, from Northumberland, who died 10th Sept. 1788, and had William, major in 42d Foot, Roddam, an admiral in the R.N., Robert, min. of Polwarth, Mary, spouse of Mr John Home, author of " Douglas," Eliza­beth, spouse of the Rev. 1785. john todd, son of Mr John T., min. of Ladykirk, ord. min. of the Presbyterian con­gregation at Longframlington in Nov. 1767, pres. to this par. by George III. 26th March, and adm. 1st Sept. 1785; died unmarr. 23d Jan. 1814, in his 71st year, and 47th min.—Publica­tion—Account of the Parish (Sinclair's St. Acc. xx.).— [Presb. 1814. geobge m'lean, a native of Dysart, became schoolmaster of Coldstream, and was licen. by the Presb. of Chirnside 28th March 1797, pres. by George, Prince Regent, 26th Feb., and ord. 1st Sept. 1814 ; died 20th Dec. 1840, in 27th min. GREENLAW.

Previous to the Reformation the church belonged to the Abbey of Kelso. The parish was supplied by william fraser, reader from 1574 to 1590.

 

1606. david home, A.M., trans, from Chirnside, when he was nominated constant Modera­tor by the Assembly at Linlithgow. The Presb. were charged by the Privy Council 17th Jan. thereafter to receive him as such within twenty-four hours, under pain of rebellion. At their first meeting, however, they did refuse, and elected another, but at length received him. He was a member of the Assembly 1608, acquired a feu-right to the lands of Tenandrie in 1617, was called before the Court of High Commission in 1620, and died in April 1637, aged about 69. His Frie geir amounted to viijm Ivj, li vj s. viij d. His wife predeceased him.—
