1632. JAMES URQUART, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 26th July 1623, pres. by Charles I. 20th May 1632; trans. to Lindean in 1635.-[Edin. Grad., Reg. Pres.]

 

1640. THOMAS COURTIE or COURTNEY, A.M., laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 23d July 1636, adm. 18th June 1640. He was min. at Kirkandrews in England 19th July and 11th Nov. 1661.-[Reg. Laur. Univ. Edin., Kelso Presb., and New Gen. Reg. Sasines ii.]

 

1657. JAMES KIRKTON, A.M., trans. from Lanark, 2d Charge, adm. after 25th June. He got a church built in 1658, but was deprived by the Acts of Parliament 11th June and of Privy Council 1st Oct. 1662; was indulged by the latter at Carstairs 3d Sept. 1672, which he refused to accept and went to England. He had sasine of the xxx s. lands of Blair 4th Oct. 1673. In June 1676 he was seized on the street of Edinburgh, but was rescued by his brother-in-lave Robert Baillie of Jerviswood. He was included in letters of intercommuning Aug. following, went to Holland, and returned in 1687.-[Hist., Lanark Presb. Reg., Reg. Sec. 1663. THOMAS COURTNEY, A.M., noticed above, returned. He was elected 2d min. to one of the churches by the Town Council of Edinburgh 9th Jan. 1663. He did not accept it, however, and had sasine of the kirklands of Home in Nov. 1668.-[Edin. Counc., Peebles Presb., and Syn. (Jedburgh Presb.), and New Gen. Reg. Sasines xx.]

 

1667. JAMES DUNBAR, A.M., trans. from Watten, pres. by Charles II. 17th Nov. 1666, coll. 21st Jan. following; went to Abbey St. Bathans in 1675.-[Min.-book. Reg. Priv. Seal, Reg. Collat.]

 

1675. ANDREW MELDRUM, A.M., took his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 1668, licen. by George, Bishop of Edin. 15th March 1670, pres. by Charles II. 28th Sept., and ord. and coll. in Nov. 1674; deprived by the Act of Parliament 25th April 1690, restoring the Presbyterian ministers, entered burges and guild-brother of Edinburgh 5th Nov. after, and died there 20th Dec. 1696, aged about 49, in 23d min. 1690. JAMES KIRKTON, A. M., noticed before, one of the min. of Edinburgh, restored by the Act of Parliament 25th April 1690, but only preached two Sundays, and returned to Edinburgh. 1692. JOHN WALLACE, A.M., trans. from Largs, called , and adm. 13th May; died 14th Feb. 1693, aged about 64. Jane Hutchisone, relict.-[Presb., and Test. Reg. (Lauder.)]

 

1697. ROBERT LIVER A.M., trans. from Hownam, called in Dec. 1696, and adm. 4th May succeeding; demitted before 6th May, which was accepted 20th June 1717.-[Presb. Reg.]
