1652. WILLIAM JOHNSTONE, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of St. Andrews 5th June 1638; continued 21st Sept. 1658, and was trans. to Lennel in 1659.-[Act. Rect. Univ. St. Andrews, Syn. (Kelso Presb.), Dunbar Presb., Auchterhouse Sess., and Edin. Reg. Sasines.]

 

1661. DAVID FORRESTER, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of St. Andrews 12th June 1652, and licen. by the Presb. there 30th July 1656. He promised 22nd Dec. 1661, two months previously, to disown the pretended commission of the Kirk erected by some brethren, and promised never to own the same; got a church built in 1673; was trans. to Longforgan before 12th Aug. 1684, when he removed with his whole family; returned and preached his farewell sermon 26th Oct. thereafter.-[Act. 1685. JOHN LUMSDEN, A.M., trans. from Canongate 2nd Charge, adm. and inst. 16th April; deprived by the Privy Council 9th Aug. 1689 for not reading the Proclamation of the Estates, and not praying for their majesties William and Mary, but for the late king, and that " God would gave him the necks of his enemies, and the hearts of his subjects." In 1701 he lived at the head of Pat. Stiell's Close, Edin. He marr. Marion Scot, and had a son Charles.[Sess., Edin. Presb., and St. Cuthbert's Sess. Reg., MS. Acc. of Min. 1689, Peterkin's Constitut. of the Church.]

 

1693. WILLIAM ABERCROMBY, A.M., obtained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 2nd Aug. 1678, licen. by the Presb. of Dumfries, called in April, and ord. 10th Aug. 1693; deposed 23rd Dec. 1697, for false accusation, drunkenness, and obscene conversation, of which lie had been guilty when in the North.-(Edin. Grad., Presb. Reg., MS. Acc. of Min. 1689.]

 

1700. ANDREW DUNCANSON, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 1681, licen. by the Presb. 2nd March 1699, called 13th July succeeding, and ord. 23rd Jan. 1700; laid aside on account of distress about 1706, and survived several years.-[Edin. Grad., Presb. Reg.]

 

1707. GEORGE LOGAN, A.M., son of George L., descended from Logan of that Ilk, had his degree from the Univ. of Glasgow in 1696, was licen. by the Presb. there 4th March 1703, became chaplain to John, Earl of Lauderdale, called unanimously 6th Feb. and ord. 8th May 1707; trans. to Sprouston 30th Dec. 1718.-[Chalmers's Life of Ruddiman, Mun. 1720. THOMAS PITCAIRNES, son of David P., of Dreghorn, studied at the Univ. of Glasgow, where he held a bursary of theology 24th Oct. 1705, licen. by the Presb. of Biggar l0th Sept. 1719, called 19th Nov. following, pres. by the Presb. jure devoluto and ord. 29th March 1720; trans. to St. Cuthberts 16th Sept. 1735.-[Mun. 1736. JAMES LINDSAY, licen. by the Presb. of Edinburgh 23rd Feb. 1732, became tutor to the family of Charles, Earl of Lauderdale, called 25th March and ord. 19th Aug. 1736; trans. to Dunbarny in April 1746.-[Presb. Reg., &c.]
