JOHN HUNTER, licen. by the Presb. of Selkirk, 6th March 1781, pres. by George III. 19th July, and by William John, Marquis of Lothian, 2d Sept. 1786, and ord. 28th Feb. thereafter; died 15th Jan. 1830, in 76th age and 43d min.-Publication-Account of the Parish (Sinclair's St. Acc. xi)-[Presb. 1830. JAMES WIGHT, licen. by the Presb. of Forfar 15th June 1814, pres. by George IV. in March, and ord. 11th June 1830; died 1st June 1859, in his 70th year and 29th min. He marr. 9th March 1826 Mary Leslie, and had George, min. of Wamphray, John, a preacher, and a daughter-Publication-Account of the Parish (New St. Acc. iii.-[Presb Reg., &c.]

It was supplied by Mr Walter Lyle, exhorter in 1567; by JOHN DOUGLAS, reader from 1574 to 1587; and JOHN SCOTT, 1579 to 1580.

 

1585. WILLIAM DOUGLAS, A.M., attained his degree fit the Univ. of Glasgow in 1580.[Mun. Univ. Glasg., Reg. Assig.]

 

1599. ANDREW DOUGLAS, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 10th Aug. 1595; trans. to Hownam in 1605.-[Reg. Laur. Univ. Edin., and Assig.]

 

1607. GEORGE DOUGLASS, A.M, took his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 28th July 1599, Ares. by William, Earl of Angus in Dec.; at which time he had also charge of Hopekirk, to which he was permanently attached in the year following.-[Presb. Reg., Reg. Laur. Univ. Edin., and Assig.]

 

1608. JAMES LOGANE, A.M., was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh 22d Feb. 1602; Ares, by the Presb. jure devoluto 5th July 1609, but on the 12th following they resolved to provide another kirk for him.-[Edin. Grad., Reg. Assig, Presb. Reg.]

 

1610. WILLIAM WEIR, A.M., had his degree from the Univ. of Edinburgh 31st July 1606, pres. by in July, coll. in Dec. 1609, and adm. 18th Jan. after; trans. to Hopekirk in 1626.-[Reg. Laur. Univ, Edin., and Assig, Presb. Reg.]

 

1626. JAMES FISCHER, Ares. by , and adm. 6th Sept.; trans. to St. Mary's Kirk of the Lowes in 1635.-[Presb. Reg.]

 

1635. JOHN DAVIDSONE, A.M., studied and got his degree at the Univ. of St. Andrews in 1628; pres. by in April, and adm. after 21st July; he gave xl toward building the Library of the Univ. of Glasgow 25th May 1636; refusing to conform to Episcopacy, he was confined to his parish in 1662; but was deposed 4th July 1666 for fornication.-[Act. 1667. JOHN DARGAVEL, A.M., acquired his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh in 1665, Ares. by James, Marquis of Douglas in Aug.; trans. to Prestonkirk in 1670.-[Edin. Grad., Presb. Reg.]
