Margaret Lumsden, relict, and bairns, who were recommended by the Assemblies, 1647-1648, to the Committee of Estates, were under the necessity of petitioning Parliament several times for subsistence. 1646. ANDREW PRINGLE, A.M., had his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 25th July 1635, on the Exercise at Kirkcaldy 25th April 1639, became chaplain to Arch., Earl of Angus, and had testimonials from the Presb. of Selkirk, pres. by the Presb. jure devoluto 29th July, and adm. 19th Aug. 1646; trans. to Castletown 2d Jan. 1650.-[Reg. 1652. GAVIN ELLIOT, A.M., obtained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 15th April 1645, adm. 3d March 1652; deprived by the Acts of Parliament 11th June, and of Privy Council 1st Oct. 1662; died before 23d May 1678. 1664. ALEXANDER FORREST, A.M., probably son of Mr Alexander F., min. of Hassendean, was laureated at the Univ. of Edinburgh in July 1642, pres. by Charles II. 11th Nov., coll. -, and inst. 22d Dec. 1664; died in April 1683, aged about 61, in 19th min. The insicht and plenishing, with librarie, and abulziments of bodie were estimai at jc li. Frie geir, d.d., ixc xij li. He marr. Anna Douglas, who died in Aug. 1681, and had Archibald, Richard, William (entered prentice to John Pringle, tailor, Edinburgh, in 1691), Margaret, and Anna.-[Edin. Grad., Reg. Sec. 1707. JOHN DOUGLAS, A.M., attained his degree at the Univ. of Edinburgh 26th June 1699, licen. by the Presb. 7th March 1705, called 20th July 1706, and ord. 1st Jan. succeeding died 17th Dec. 1750, aged about 71, in 44th min.-[Edin. Grad, Presb. Reg.]
